I hope all our VGA dreams will come true.

I'm yet to see a phone that has decent VGA recording for more than just holding the camera steady and filming. As soon as you introduce a lot of movement, it drops frames or 'shears' like crazy. There's simply not enough processing power, so at best you maintain the 30fps but have horrid artefacts and other nasty side effects.

If they have squeezed VGA 30fps out of the C905 I sincerely hope they'll have upped the processor speed a lot to cope. That sample video, assuming it is genuine, didn't put the camera under a lot of pressure and it's still a bit jerky.

To be honest, I think we'll have to wait a bit longer until we get a phone with the necessary processing power to do proper VGA and, as we'll soon expect, HD. We then need powerful encoding for H.264/MP4 on the fly to reduce file sizes so people can actually record more than a few minutes in a decent quality.

It would be interesting to know whether the decision regarding removing dedicated play button has support from the majority of users?
For me and those of my friends also using their phone playing music, this is one of the biggest faults made in recent years.

Especially on pure Walkman phones!

I'm that kind of customer that could pay more to get a phone excelling on both music features as well as camera features/quality. This should definitely be default for the model announced to be the top model, i.e C905!

I think the company's poor mid- to high-end phone sales result, recently presented by SE, is surely caused by the above mentioned reason.

Personally, I would really like to excange my current phone today (K800) if I could find a successor combining both worlds, camera quality and great Walkman features. No doubt about it!

The purest example of such a phone is W800, having (those times) the greatest camera available (2.0 Mpix with autofocus) in combination with superior Walkman features. World hadn't seen before features such as "flight mode", "Mega Bass", dedicated play/skip buttons, nice earplugs with 3.5 mm plug etc. Great amount of memory was also included.

All this was packaged in a nice orange/white casing, giving the product an originality. Standing out from the crowd. I think W800 is the best SE phone ever, by far!

As I see it, SE has not yet (during almost three years!) even come close to beat this phone legend!

Please give me a new SE phone alternative to my K800! I don't like to fail SE i favor of a different brand!

Thanks!

BR,
Eztoril

little off topic but you said you like w800 because of its sound/camera... K850 and c902 (c702, etc) have newer/better megabass & newer/better sound...and they are not even pure phones...

so K850 or c902 is way better for music playing then w800 in my eyes (plus they have a 5 m.p camera featuring)

on topic

nice that c905 seems to record in VGA. (but im not that much about video recording on cell phones... think the quality never looks good enough.. just as long the camera works good,, im satisfield)

I'm beginning to wonder what the good of VGA recording is if it goes all patchy as soon as there is any movement.

Honestly, I would rather have crisp clear QVGA rather than stuttery VGA. If they are going to add VGA recording then lets hope its nice and crisp otherwise QVGA would be better IMO.

It must have a VGA @ 30 fps!
Anything less than that is a sin for a 8 mp cameraphone.

dont be happy yet until we see the final product.
some K850's prototypes also had VGA recording ,but the final is QVGA

t650 protos had vga too......

the main problem for both phones though was................................... battery life!

vga sucked the battery very quickly in them...... maybe why they opted not to use it? though, a bigger battery could have been developed.
