There's a report I saw yesterday that Apple might go to LG for their upcoming dual camera phone, as Sony might not be able supply these in time duo to yield and negative impact of the latest earthquake...
LG doesn't produce any camera sensor. But LG innotake does supply camera module-
this is what a camera module looks like-

And this is what a sensor looks like -http://keyassets.timeincuk.net/inspirewp/live/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2013/06/sony_sensors_600.jpg
Sony will produce the sensor and Sony and LG innotake will supply the camera module.

@blackzeros
Yeah, you are right about Snapdragon's camera capabilities.
If they use the same sensor then I'll ditch xperia and buy the next nexus unless nexus also use last year IMX377.

What I needed more from a snapdragon SoC, is faster (eg. slower) slow-motion video
Even the latest 820 is still like two gen. before maxis at
720@240 and
1080@120... even MediaTek has one with twice as fast (
720@480 )...
current SoC are supposed to be capable of such speeds, as they already can handle
4K@60... and 4K it self is Quad 1080, so in theory it can handle
1080@240... and 1080 is 2.25 times 720... so at 720 we can expect 480 up to 540...
But I didn't put into account other variables like sensor, overhead, interface, etc...
But even with these, the MediaTek SoC, was demonistrated with
720@480 with a specific Sony sensor... and even iPhone had the same speed starting from iPhone 6

i usually don't post concept design in rumor threads, but that concept of a X Premium really looks ugly so I photoshopped it a bit. Looks way nicer now.

Too wide for my taste. It looks like a lady trying to be sexy.
@black zeros, I'm sure sony is capable of being in the forefront of innovation. They have proved that many times (especially tech outside the smartphone realm) but then for some internal issues I supposed they can't seem to pull their shit together.
For the oled, it is very much easy to purchase it outside their own production but I guess it is their policy to support their own products (JDI).
As for the camera, 1/2.0 in thin smartphones today would be a technological feat if they would be able to fit them unless Sony has some tech they had been developing to make sensors larger.
As for the iris recognition, that would make this phone very much expensive and I think Sony doesn't want that but I thinking back on it, it's risky to sell a premium smartphone because its hardware are too expensive that in the long-run, depreciating its value would mean a loss for the company.
I guess that is the reason why Sony is being cheap nowadays. They are very much unlike Apple right now. They don't enjoy the privelege of low rate of depreciation.

well, I have not seen much attempt from Sony to reduce depreciation of their smartphones
on the other hand, we see very strong effort from Apple convincing people about it. despite most of the people having to replace their Apple smartphones every 1-4 years
