Yeah it worked like a charm. Lucky fluke!
I work with HTML as well, so I would have dug my way down to that eventually no doubt, I just didn't have the audacity tonight!
EDIT: My comment a few posts back about the menu highlight image being slightly off kilter with the text it is supposed to be highlight is not due to the thinner text mod at all, but more the fact that in the xml files uploaded here with the mod - the menu bar has been disabled.
It seems that the highlight image automatically aligns itself to centre, and with the scrollbar removed, it readjusts, shifting a couple of pixels to the right and partially filling the gap where the scrollbar once was.
Re-enabling the menu bar sorts this alignment issue out dandy. To do so:
Ensure the bold value (next to ScrollBarMode) equals 2.

I have changed the font size and it is excellent; but I found something, the scrollbars are gone!!
Does anyone know how to return them to normal?
TIA

Sorry

Have updated my post now.
With the changes, the highlight image is now perfectly in line and the calendar text is well and bold.
I really like the thinner typeface - very good!

you don't like not having scroll bars?
i think they make it look cleaner.
but.. i'm not sure where it is in the layout.xml...
so we'll have to wait for someone to post one with scrollbars.

@max_wedge
I'm sure I read somewhere that the latest firmware caused a few problems with picture quality etc. Is this the case do you know?
Cheers
Nah. I've done extensive picture taking, there is no substantial difference. There may be slight pros and cons on either side but not enough to be worth going to the effort of doing a scientific comparison.
Overall, the camera is pretty much the same. Except that the R1BC firmware doesn't have a shutter sound delay

yah, r1bc gets rid of the delay in picture taking, hey max have you tried the slimmer fonts?

i was messing with the startup and shutdown stuff earlier tonight...
when i realized that i accidentally deleted the SPLASH thing.. so i went back and tried to put it back in... but now nothing works... like my startup/shutdown images and my sounds.. they don't work.
when i turn the phone on, i just get a black screen til it comes on.
anyone know how to fix this?
also, i think before it got deleted, all it said in FAR was SPLASH... but when i tried to replace it, it shows as SPLASH.png

@Phantom
The splash startup picture does not have a file extension, take the extension off of the one you want and replace it again using far.
As far as I know it can be a gif, jpg or png file, as long as you call it SPLASH and leave out the file extension.
