wtf... if you are talking about photos this thread proves Satio is a more than capable digicam. If you are not talking about photos then wtf are you doing here?

Satio's camera is really below expectations and is really outperformed by some 5/8/12 mp camera phones, such in the camera interface (options (away too limited for the "ultimate camera phone") and speed (laggy and slow)) or image quality (specifically on noise levels (high noise even in daylight shots), captured detail (quite low when cropped) and it's high tendency to burn highlights (just check it for yourselves) So, stop throwing rocks at me when I criticize Satio's camera performance because it was meant to impress instead of disappoint.
And no, I have nothing against Satio or SE, in fact, I'm actually using a C902 along with my E72 and I am thinking about buying a silver Satio. But yeah, if you can't stand negative critiques I'll be out of here.

Daylight & high noise level what are you talking 'bout

If put mark with (low light...neon.....dusk time.....sunset...etc..limited light) then It's okay because of sucks small aperture.

There is not a single 5MP camera phone on the market that comes anywhere near the detail of the Satio. Saying so is just plain ignorance. And when it comes to 8MP, I would agree the i8910 has slightly better detail than Satio, UNTIL you resize the Satio image down to 8MP, then what do you know? Turns out the Satio actually captures more detail than even the best 8MP camera phones. I haven't done direct comparison to 12MP pixon, but going by the i8910 you may be right. But the colour, low light performance is better on the Satio in my view. Also, the Satio has a much better lens (less distortion) and better ergonomics. And the best flash on any camera phone to date. So against Pixon it still holds it's own.

Camera options, yes it is a shame that Satio didn't include more options, iso support and fixed flash for example. But nothing is perfect. Overall it still ranks up there as one of the better cameraphones on the market, in the top two. That's nothing to be disappointed about.

Let me quote you: "Have you (Satio users) completely lost your hope in a new firmware update? Sony Ericsson sucks." That hardly counts as a critique - that's plain out inflamatory and non-constructive.

Okay, I guess I did not express myself well on that post you quoted. Sorry about that.

Now, let me show an example. I know that some of you don't like comparisons in this thread but this is an analysis of a Satio's photo, so I believe it should be tolerated here. Oh, and no, I am not trying to flame Satio and praise the other phone. I'm just sharing some of my experiences with you.

Both photos were taken with auto settings and are not post-processed.

So, what is visible here, is that the 5mp phone (not the best 5mp phone on the market), cropped at 160% (I zoomed it in 60% so it could be at the same size of Satio's), has still more captured detail (inevitable more noise of course) than the Satio at a 100% crop.

You can see the full photos here:

I have to admit that's pretty impressive. If that's standard fare for the E72 then it's light years ahead of the N95 8GB 5MP, and any others that I've tried.

Nevertheless there are still symptoms of a smaller censor and smaller lens ie: blurring towards the edges compared to the Satio shot which is evenly focussed throughout the image. Also, the Satio image is darker, but yet has selected a settings combination that should make the image slightly brighter not darker (iso64 and 1/385 shutter speed versus e72 100ISO and 1/192 shutter speed). This leaves me wondering if there were clouds in the sky or some external factor that made the Satio image darker. In any digital camera brightness makes a big difference to detail. In my experience with the Satio, it takes quite bright photos.

Nevertheless that's a good result for the E72. I resized the Satio image to 5mp using mitchel re-sampling and sharpened it - but while I got a closer comparison than you did it's still not as good as the e72. If you agree I will post the result on flickr, (and credit you for the photography of course).

But that's ONE picture, not a definitive study, and it still focusses on only one aspect of image quality.
