@moogoo, The idea was coined by someone here who saw SonyAlphaRumors's neat rating system, although Canon, Nikon and 4/3s also have their own rumor sites alongside their respective rating system index similar to SAR's (CRx, NRx or 43x etc)

The phablet (Togari) is gonna get Sony screens, and Honami will get Sony + Sharp (lottery).

WTF!!! If true, this is not a TRUE "One Sony" phone. Screen lottery is just terrible. Sony, just pick a screen and go with it. By all accounts, the Sharp IGZO screen is the best out there in the near future. Why would Sony screw over customers in different parts of the world and fragment their market? This is the first time I'm souring over the Honami... perhaps it's not as good as we thought and Sony's old terrible practices (like screen lottery, bad viewing angles) will still make it a flawed phone.
man... u r just over reacting for no reason !!!
How can a screen made by joint effort of sony & sharp hve poor viewing angles ?
It's gng to b awsm not flawed.

^ I believe he's just going by the experiences of the last couple flagships, with Xperia Z and T/TX getting screen lottery and the some variants of the screen being less than perfect.
I agree though that there should be uniformity in quality for such a vital component of the device. If there is little to tell the difference of which screen is which then it really doesn't matter, whereas with TX/T/Z there is inequality when all should be equal.

There is no reason to worry about all that. Both the Sharp and Sony panels are brilliant and equal quality with perfect viewing angles. The phablet also features a high viewing angle screen.
No more bad viewing angle from Sony, at least for high end

As for screen, wouldn't it depend on whether Sharp could provide enough panels for Sony? If they can't then of course Sony needs to get panels elsewhere to fill in the gaps.

I like how it took sony a few generations to realize that a high end phone, tablet should ship with a high end screen.
