@all: mother and child are fine, discharged from the hospital in record time. only my 1st born is a bit jealous as he's no longer the one and only.
@oluy: what next from mtn? maybe a bigger 3.5g footprint so some of us in the village can really enjoy the new bundles; and maybe cheaper tariffs on the dstv collabo, with OUR OWN PHONES!!! (did someone say oliver twist?)

@abu: Welcome to the world of managing sibling rivalry. But your firstborn will adjust, by the grace of God. Its tough for them too - going from "dedicated server" to "shared hosting". I get your drift with MTN jare. But I doubt wider 3G coverage for now. Usually, only key cities are ever covered with 3G. EDGE is then deployed as stop-gap elsewhere. Many people are unaware that the latest EDGE platforms deliver top 3G speed i.e. 384kbps. So you may miss HSDPA, but you are not likely to miss 3G in the long run. As for DSTVmobile, its only a matter of time before they open usage up to ANY DVBH-enabled phone. Even then, how popular will mobTV be? Time will tell. Regards to madam and the kids!

@Abu.. Congrats
@2tek... Which version of blusoleil did u install? Earlier this year i installed version 5 on my laptop (vista buisness) and it started crashing all over the place. I have version 6 now and it is stable. But i don't think there is any advantage of bluesoleil over nokia pc suite if you have a nokia phone

@oluy: this sms bonus is baffling me. without loading cred it has increased to N520. Or is it the amt of sms u send that increases the bonus? if that is so, how do i spend it? maybe on non-mtn sms.

@2tek: More recent phones display an 'E' to signify EDGE availability. 384kbps is the theoretical max (just like with 3G). in reality, on EDGE or 3G you'll get between 100 and 240 kbps as regular speeds. MTN says though that its EDGE network is not fully deployed yet. Not sure what that means, but it may mean that they do not have the full theoretical capability of 384kbps yet or that they have not covered everywhere they plan to.

I used the MTN 24-hour 50mb package yesterday, and it was then it really dawned on me: at 15k per kb, 50mb would be N7,500; wouldn't it? Unless my calculation is wrong, this is a REAL steal! Plus, browsing on my smartphone alone, I had to think up ways of using up my 50mb within 24 hours. Though I didn't really need them, I decided to download videos and even watch Youtube. Of course, it was soon over. As soon as the 50mb was up, the connection grabbed and emptied my airtime - in the middle of a video download :-D
