sorry but the newest SEUS version does what was said above.
if theres no new update, it gives you the option to continue anyway. it deletes all user settings etc etc. just like a reflash. i was going to do it this morning. but chose not to.
It has done this for years, but it wont fix a BROD.
Unless it flashes the filesystem too now!

The old version keeps your files and phonebook untouched, but the new version tells us to back things up.
Anybody tried this out?

hmm.. well it'd be nice to know if it could unBROD, but I'm not keen on it wiping everying each time I want to update.
If the backup saved everything (like the T9 dictionary?) then it wouldn't be so bad.
Sounds like they're having to do it because their software is so flakey they can't update it without risking the BROD

I tried it this morning and it didn't remove anything (ringtones, themes, pictures, settings, etc.).

maybe some other people just e-mailed SE about losing some data while updating - no reference on Anti-BROD update.

I just ran SEUS. It found an application update files. OK. SEUS launched well. I plugged the cable. SEUS said mine is the latest. I chose Continue Anyway. SEUS updated my phone once again to R1FA035.
NO. My phonebook, my setting, my data, everything remain there in tact.
It's WRONG that SEUS can flash just like Davinci or KulanKendi.

It's true when you update the firmware, not when you reinstall the same firmware.

Hm. If my firmware were R1EA037...
Sorry, I can't check it then.
