Your mistaking megapixels for quality. Just say the K800i was 10MP. It would be no better in quality than a 1MP photo. 1MP means the photo is at 1280 x 960 pixels and 3MP means 2048 x 1536 pixels. That's it.

It's not quite that simple. Normally, when you put the picture on paper, for example a 15x10 cm size, the picture quality is better if the source is from a 3.2 Mpixel photo than from a 1.0 Mpixel photo, since each pixel covers a smaller surface on the paper, and thus, there will be room for more details, which in a way can be interpreted as higher quality. However, the more pixels, the more room for noise and unwanted information, and that is equal to lower picture quality.
The way the picture is saved in the phone's memory is important too. Almost no picture will render a 3.2Mbyte image file, since the image data is compresed by using a JPEG algorithm, and the way the JPEG algorithm is implemented influences the picture quality too.
Also, if you use the digital zoom in the camera, only pixels from a part of the sensor are being saved. For example, if you zoom in 2x with the K800i, only the middle 1452 x 1086 pixels are being saved, and if you increase the zoom more, even fewer pixels are being used, and for each zoom level, you can see for yourself that the picture quality is decreased.

Hey all,
GREAT thread - love hearing about all of the tricks!!
I have 3 questions about my K800i that maybe someone can answer:
-can I use my k800 camera flash as a steady light? my old k750 had this and i really miss the feature.
-how can i create a shortcut to an app in the applications folder of the file manager? I want to shortcut to the awesome new Gmail java app
-i want to be able to send full size images over MMS or email. but, every time i try, the phone forces me to resize. is there any way around this??
thanks all!!

While you can't use the flash as a torch, you can use the AF Assist light (That red light) as a torch.
Simply download a java app and run it whenever you need the torch.
Here's a
post that has a link to it.

Hello,
Does anybody know how I can change the alert sound for appointments in the calendar.
I standard alert sound is both short and low, so I often do not hear it and consequently miss appointments.
Besides this I really like my k790.

I'm not sure if it works with k800 also, but if you turn the phone off before you connect it with the USB cable, it will automatically start in file transfer mode.
