Cant stand the branding and the crap battery life

the only factor I have found is Gmail. I set-up gmail on my P990 and I had about 35 emails (many large HTML ones). When I deleted the account the speed of my P990 improved! You could also try a 'Format Internal Drive' (after a back-up) from the service menu. To access the Service Menu do the following in FC mode:
Jog-Dial up
* (means type this character from the keyboard)
Jog-Dial down
Jog-Dial down
*
Jog-Dial down

I've just phones orange and got a free upgrade... last week they wanted 129.99 for a new one !!! I said I was going over to O2!.... then they put a random customer rep on and he said you can have it for free for a 18 mth contract....
He also said I could have a next upgrade around month 8 or 9 !!! lets see if that really is the case.... So I am on a waiting list..... let see what happens

yeah they offered me 18 months and said about upgrade in moth 8/9 but theres no proof of this and im sure it depends on useage.
E2save have a p990 on orange on the panther 12 month tariffand the phone free.
or racoon 12 month and the phone for £29.99
therte are other network offers so i shall be recalling orange ot see what they can do or i will be looking to cancel

Got my P990i yesterday and hate the orange interface having tried a Vodafone P990i, the Orange version is slower and they have removed some functins like the hardware buttons.
Sony Ericsson have told me you can not put standard software back on to the phone and this is the way Orange have them set up. Oh well mines going back.

I've heard can go down to a SE service center and they will put the latest unbranded firmware on. When you come to use SEUS online though, it'll try and put the latest orange branded firmware on.
If you really must get rid of the branding that's an option. Personally I can live with it, its the only P990i software ive used so its fine. Tracker or a fully featured handyday with customised today screen is what everyone will want, branded or unbranded.

just called up orange today and they had some stock but alas cos i want the phone free i have to wait for thier bleeding customer relations to call me to tell me that my reserved unit is avaliable ! damn orange bend the rules for me pls !!!!
