SE over the nokia as it has a better battery life, bigger screen which is better for surfing

P990 screen is only slightly bigger then N95. It is Just 1 mm more in width and 2-3mm more in length. N95 screen on the other hand is much better in contrast and brightness and color depth of 16m (p990 is only 262K). This makes huge difference in the quality of photo/video.

Dont forget P990 is much bigger and heavier than the sleek N95.

As for video the n95 takes great video, the p990 is slightly behind using QVGA

Slightly behind? You gotta be joking right.
N95 video has 4X more pixel and twice as many fps in mpeg format.

You wont be dissapointed with either I can assure you that but for me the p990 is a true convergance device where as the n95 is on paper a great device but due to the poor battery fails to live up to the hype.

P990 battery life is also very poor. You can only get 1-2 days moderate use with it. N95 also can also manage 1-2 days on moderate normal use.

N95 screen is 262k colours not 16m as you claim. I think your thinking of the n93i. I got 2 days out of the n95 sometimes 3 but that was on gsm not 3g and with light to moiderate usage.

As for screen size the n95 is 2.6 inches isnt the p990 2.8 inches? I havent got mine yet so dont know but im sure its more than a few mm bigger than the n95.

Video is 30fps VGA where as the p990 is 25/30fps (i always hear people say one or the other) QVGA which is the next one down from VGA.

Do you even have the n95? Yes the p990 may be bigger an ulgier looking but its more solid and i find i can handle it better where as the n95 feels too light and fragile. Sorry but this is just my opinion.

I think you need to read some more abut the N95 and P990i. YES, the N95 HAS 16m colours. AND the P990i only record at 15 frames. So yes, its a real big differens. I think you talking about playing, not recording. And the differens between VGA and QVGA is really big. And YES, I have them both, the screen is not much bigger on the P990i, just a few mm

Ah yes your right it does indeed have 16m colours i must have ben thinking of an n93 haha.

As for fps i havent seen the whitepaper but im sure ive seen tonnes of people in the "post youre pics and vids" section saying its 25fps.

Anyway its more than adequete for me. If i wanted very good video recording id take my camcorder with me.

It is so funny that you accuse me of not having N95 eventhough I gave all the right info. You profess that you have a N95 and yet you got all the facts wrong about the N95.

Just weighing in here having owned both phones......the N95 is superior to the P990i for Multimedia. The music player in the N95 plays incredible sound and is louder than the P990i. The camera has higher pixels, but to which one is better is entirely IMO up to the individual, and the video recorder is a so much better in the N95.

In terms of physical aspect, the N95 feels cheaply built IMO on the front keypad. The slide is sturdy and I think the P990i is better built although really hollow feeling. The screen is better in sunlight in the N95.

Both are great phones, but I think Nokia has finally caught up to SE on the multimedia front. If the N95 had a keypad, it would be a real business challenger to the P990i. In the end, it is really up to the individual user which is better for their daily lives.

I really miss my P990. My other half has just got a Nokia N95. I must admit that some aspects of it are impressive, but some are just silly - I mean, who is going to need a barcode scanner!
