Its well known symbian devices do not need such high processor speeds, and that whay they can get advantages in terms of battery consumption
Anyone compared a n95 (latest fw) with the Tytn II??? The n95 processor is slower in terms of clock speed, but AFAIK its really fast, and might be as fast as the tytn

@ ares
sorry, can't agree with the comparison between N95 and TytnII. Actually my friend's N95 closely stands next to the p1 and my HTC tmobile MDA. To say that WM applications are processor intensive is unsubstantiated. I don't see why an application on WM would need an extra 2000 lines of code to run on a WM device as compared to a Symbian device. They're all just about the same. A lot of the WM devices actually get decent battery life, also proof that they're not processor intensive.
I've tried the p1, n95 and HTC mda side by side. The MDA still blows the other two out with an old 195mhz processor. I have tomtom 6 on my p1. Takes about 12-14 seconds to load. It took a little less than 5 seconds on the TytnII in the video I originally linked to on Youtube.

its obvious the tytn II is faster...no need for videos...but about the MDA, i say "BS"...its for that that you need videos...
regarding symbian vs wm, here´s an interesting article

Can someone pls. post videos of common applications on the N95 being loaded so we can look at the time it takes? And I'm talking from scratch, after closing all running applications. Maybe you can include that in the video, something like the 'end all applications' feature on the P1.In the meanwhile, I'll work on putting up some videos of the p1 vs the HTC Tmob MDA. By common applications, I mean stuff like Messaging, Web browser, Calendar, Contacts, Media player, maybe FM Radio and camera. (I just have to wait till my gf is done using her MDA for the day.)

I thought this was about "SE w960 i or HTC tytn ll ?"
As I mentioned earlier, why does N95 have to come into so many threads on Esato? I can't see any reference to the OP expressing a desire for one

I am a strict business user and P1 fulfills all my needs in that respect, so IMO its perfect business phone.

strange things is that when i tried to open a excel doc, TYTN II takes few seconds whilst P1 almost as immediate, it's a 1MB excel file

When I asked about wheter I should choose the P1i or the Tytn 2 I didn't think about speed - I have a P900 now so I guess they both will be very much faster...
I just asked if the Tytn 2 really will be 400$ better than the P1i - and again the phone part of a mobilephone is important to me - will the Tytn 2 go down on this as previous HTCs...?
For some reason I still think of the Tytn 2 as being a 1st generation PPc with all in it GPS etc. but the P1i is a well tested phone since it's "build on" the know how of the P990i and the M600...?

but TytN II is built upon the success of the original TyTN which was built upon the success of the k-jam, which was built upon the success of the jam which... well you get the picture.
the GPS has minimal impact on the o/s as it is just a 3rd party chip which is accessed via a serial port

The chipset used in the original TyTN does also support GPS. But HTC chose not to implement this. The same chipset is used in the HTC Trinity for which HTC just had to release an update ROM which activated the GPS. The TyTN was never meant to have an active GPS so it is missing the antenna and its supporting circuitry.

So in your eyes the Tytn 2 is 400 $ better than the P1i?
