Still Se is continuing their 2007 strategy which will repeat 2007.
1)w760i is announced in jan 08 and it will be available only in q2 why so long?
gives enough edge for competitors
2)2.2 inch only?
3)NO autofocus(2007 strategy)
4)No flash?Led(2007 strategy)
5)gps with such a small screen?
6)Not only Nokia but even motorola have starting floating 16mln screens,SE same old resolution
7)No 3.5mm jack, even motorola has started to intoduce it in their phones.

No wifi(a phone which is to be release in q2 08 should have this,)(all n series devices of 08 will feture wifi)
9)now we have to see if SE really has done anything good in terms of sound and build quality,
otherwise w760i,wont be popular
Positive i see is only gps and best pic,and lets see how the price is set for this device. If its
priced as w910i,then sure would be a miss.
Ah, let's see what you've got to say now..............
1. Long time? A period 3 months isn't long from the date of announcement to the date of release. This baby will come in April.
2. If you go any bigger, you'll end up with a bad battery life, less amount of features or larger size.
3. & 4. People buying this will buy it because they are music lovers, not because they need auto focus (99% of the globe population doesn't even know what this is for crying out loud!) or an LED flash.
5. As said, how about the 6110 Navigator from Nokia? I'd bet you don't think its screen size is small...
6. Obviously there's no need for this from the customers (CUSTOMERS, not gadget freaks like us!) and it's very hard - if not impossible - to spot the difference between 262k colours and 16 million colours. It's all about the display technology if you want proper colours - do a comparison of, say, K850 and N95, and see which phone has the best colour reproduction, viewing angle, sharpness, etc. By the way, check out your posts before posting, as they're full of mistakes. You're writing "SE same old resolution" - the resolution has nothing to do with the amount of colours, that you were talking about. SE's using the same resolution as most other manufacturers, QVGA.
7. Agree with you on that one, but as long as they bundle the phones with transformers, there's no such need for 3.5 mm jack on the phone.
8. HALLO, it's a feature phone, not a smart phone. And again, most CUSTOMERS won't need or use this, so why include it.
9. I'm sure they have.
So, if it doesn't live up to this, it won't be successful? Well, that's about the same thing you said with 90% of all 2007

phones and look what happened - you were WRONG. Same thing will happen again and again and again and again...

All you see is two positive things? Then I'd suggest you to get yourself a pair of STRONG glasses.
@RandomCarpet
It's an ambient light sensor for regulating the display back light.

So I guess SE isn't done gathering their legions of ignorant people.
This phone almost had me, since I am a W850 lover. The best I can describe SE now are "second best" or "a bad to no orgasm." They get you there, almost, almost, lost it. . . .
Maybe a few more months. Something that will please me, until then still using N95-2.

@mizzle
I agree with u,whatever SE gives us we should accept it.And we should not talk n discuss about pros and cons of the phone.

Erm, I think most people are aware of autofocus. Apart from a throwaway camera, just about EVERY camera from film to digital has auto focus!
People are demanding more from their cameraphone, so I think it's a step backwards to use the non-AF sensor. It's not just the lack of auto focus that I'm worried about, but look at the HUGE difference in quality from the SE 2.0MP AF sensor on the K750.. to the 2.0MP non-AF sensor on more recent products. Besides the lower resolution (so the sensors are totally different), they have far too much noise and lack detail. I guess the sensor i much, much smaller (great for space saving, but crap for photography).

I keep reading about this on Esato over and over and over again so I thought I'd write something about it.
Why, when some people on Esato want something from

other people call them gadged freaks?
What is that defines "us" on Esato as "gadget freaks"?
Why is someone wanting 16m colors on a display a "gadget freak"?
Who is the one that have the right to define other peoples "needs"?
Is it that much to ask from a manufacturer, to add a feature in a product?
I read a interview the other day with

and the question about the 3.5mm jack came up when someone said he wanted 3.5mm jack on the phone.

said "we have adapter for that" - ignoring the fact that the person was aware of the fact that adapters exist but wanted the 3.5 on the phone it self.
Come on... my walkman had a 3.5mm jack 1986...
Every other manufacturer have it on their phones.

had it on the p800.
How can it be that hard to implement this feature in a "music phone" today?
And how am I a "gadget freak" for wanting this feature in a music phone?
How come K series have AF, and W series don't have 3.5mm jacks?
Is my dad a "gadget freak" when he notices his "camera phone" do not have AF?
Is my kidsister a "gadget freak" because she do not like the huge fastport adapter on her w910 and wants a 3.5mm jack?
As soon as someone here on Esato ask for a feature to be added to a

phone - a feature that maybe the competitors had on their phones for a long time - he/she is called "gadget freak" or "you are not a customer", or he/she hears "you ask too much from

".
I want this to stop!
Stop being ignorant guys!
Everyone here that buys a

product is a CUSTOMER.
Every customer is ENTITLED to his/her opinion.
Everyone on this forum have the right to say what they want and need.
If I want a 3.5mm jack, then apparently this is something I need in a music phone. And no one can tell me I don't need it.
You can have your own opinion about if you need it or want it, but you can not tell me what I need and don't need.
If you take a walk down the road and look at people that passes you, you will notice that they don't have the same hairstyle like you, they don't dress like you, then don't walk like you, they don't drive the same car like you.
THEY HAVE OTHER NEEDS THAN YOU
So before you or anyone else feel they have to air their thoughts, plz take moment and think about other peoples needs and not only yours.
OT: My first thoughts on the W760 is that it looks good and it's nice to see the return of the stereo speakers in a

phone. The camera part I will not speak of

@S4k1s You're a freak - sorry bud

Can't you get it? We,the SE fans don't want a 3.5mm audio plug on the thing. And the screen is the best as is. Who needs 16 mil colors? If you want these things go to Nokia -

It's not a smartphone, and it's not here to compete against N-series phones, it's a music phone
_________________
I think you're wrong on this point. You're right in stating that it's not a smartphone, however for the price point that it debuts at (read: HIGH and INFLATED, like all other Sony products), I'm sure that in the average consumers eye's it will be competing with some N-series phones for the space in their pockets. Does the layman, or average consumer if you like, look to see or care that they're purchasing a "smartphone" (I'm sure that in all fairness, the awareness of most average consumers has been raised do to the popularity of a certain "smartphone" called the iPhone... My own mother is proof of this, however)? How many of the existing million's of Nokia N95 owner's out there know that they own a "smartphone". I'd hazard a guess and say that a good majority of the average consumers out there that own a Nokia N95 don't know or care that it's a "smartphone". All they know or care about, I'm sure, is that their phone plays music like a stand alone MP3 player and takes grood pictures like a stand alone point and click camera. When everything is said and done, and when you boil phones like these down to their essence's: what we're essentially talking about is multimedia based devices (computers?) that also happen to place calls! In this sense, while taking into account the price and marketing strategies from both companies, all of SE offerings are competing against some sort of smartphone when talking about Nokia (specifically) since most of Nokia's phones are "smartphones". Unlike SE, Nokia has some form of "smartphone" offering spread throughout ALL OF THEIR RANGE (since they almost all run some form of Symbian OS) and not just in their high-end range unlike SE. Does Nokia Ask itself , "Is SE's X phone a smart phone? If not, should we really market our Y phone which is a smart phone against SE's non-smartphone offering?"...
Thought not, look at all of the Esato users who have made the switch or are making the switch to Nokia's for all of the proof you need. They, like me, went to were the value and features were at, with Nokia. So tell me, is it still fair to compare the two in a capitalistic open market? Nokia and the average consumers sure are (and their opinions matter a whole hell of a lot more than yours or mine)....
