If the 6230 is bringing us features we've only seen in big, bulky Symbian phones before, what's your problem?

If the T630 had VGA camera, MP3 player,MMC slot (or the more expensive SD), inbuilt FM radio, speakerphone, Java etc etc, you'd be cumming in your pants. But when it's a Nokia, you just choose to live in denial.

So friggen true.

@ hurny: Quite true. But I'm still not going to jump on the bandwagon of every new device that comes out. If I did, I'd have gotten a P900. And although I consider myself a staunch SE supporter, I have nothing against Nokia in general. Thing is, some would rather get a T630 than a 6230 - just like my friend would get a 7210. Everyone's entitled to support something, and here it's SE. BTW, my R1A T610 has endured hell with me in my army training, and I just love this \"piece of crap\". This message was posted from a T610

Just read the thread 'what esato used2b' and u'll see why ppl just hate the 'flying fin/hurny' combination.U obviously r subjective not being able to sustain a pertinent point of view regarding ur beloved nokias.I TOTALLY disagree with u and i ain't no fan of a brand.I always bought the best PHONE around, not brand.I won't use strong words, but u guys dont even deserve the adjectives u use while replying2others.U guys with ur rude and uneducated attitude wont convince a soul of anything. we r wasting our time This message was posted from a T610

The age old argument looks a tad silly in here, Esato being very pro-SE. At the end of the day people will go with what they are most comfortable with.
I posted a similar comment in another thread, but I will restate the basics of what I said. Nokia makes simple to us ephones, designed for the average user. They are not complicated, they are not especially sophisticated and they don't usually pack the features in when compared to SE.
Now before I get angry comments about criticising Nokia I did not make the above comments to be insulting, I made them because they are true.
Se makes phones which are aimed primarily at high-end users, business users, geeks with cash and othe rpeople who need\want high specification phones that are a little bit more complex to use.
Nokia and SE are never going to be in direct competition with one another unless one of them suddenly decides to start copying the othe rin aiming its products at a certain area.

@scotsboyuk

I take your point about what nokia have done. The point of this thread though, is that the nokia 6230 seems to have more/better features than any anounced product with the same form factor.

This is unusual, normally has way more features and nokia just has fm radio, and lots of marketing. So what does this mean? Will 'philes consider the phone on it's merits? Will nokia users get really confused by a phone with lots of features? Will nokia be able to implement everything without lots of bugs (:se: has taken a while to get this right)

It just seems to me that the 6230 is a phone with many of the traditional strengths of an product...

As Nokia has the cash to move into a new (for them) market, and as Nokia is still the world's leader when it comes to volumes sold, you may assume that nokia is well aware of products released by competitors (no matter how small) that are popular.

You do not seriously believe that Nokia has not noticed what devices are popular and what 'middle to high end' users would like to see in a phone??

This phone is being rel;eased because it supplies to a demand in the market. That's what companies do. They make products that ppl want, so they can sell them.

Now the whole barnd X versus brand Y thing is getting a bit tedious.

Nokia makes phones. Phones with features and memory are getting more and more popular. Nokia makes those phones too.

Simple as that.

Now can we stop the flaming, the personal attacks, the blind statements over why one brand rulezzzz over another in your opinion and also the scandinavian feud?

There's a Scandinavian feud? Woohoo! I want some of that

Seriously though, if Nokia is trying to cater for more high-end users then really they face an uphill struggle. Their brand is seen as a 'kiddy' brand, meaning that they are not asociated with high-end tech. I am not insulting Nokia, I think that they do what they do rather well, its just that they need to be careful when moving into traditional SE territory. Some people will never buy a Nokia no matter what, I myself used to own one or two, but I have since converted to SE.
The problem SE face is that they really aren't strong enough to challenge Nokia on their own territory, i.e. the mass market for avergae joes, so they will have to fight them on the beaches so to speak less Nokia get too far into SE's target area. This is what SE do best, very cool products with fantastic features that are innovative and celever. Nokia might have bitten off more than it can chew if it moves in on SE territory.

I see our point. However, Nokia will see that too I would think. Of course they will want a chunk of the high end market. And of course there's gonna be more phones that can compete with feature wise.
has vowed to focus on the high end market in full over the coming years. Since that is theri strength, i imagine they will do rather well. But 'of course' the competition will only get fiercer (not just NOkia.... all manufacturers)

And I'm afraid that also 'of course' there will be numerous threads like this for each of those phones

Yup, something to look forward too

SE are in a good position with regards to quality and customer loyalty. Many people like their phones and enjoy using them, so slowly they are building up a following. As long as SE concentrate solely on the medium - high - end users market they are never going to have the same following or market share that Nokia does, but then again everyone has to start somewhere I suppose.
