Surely if orange standardise their phones they should standardise the prices too. Whats next. A p900 with the internet browser and touch screen disabled. Bloody mad. Now i'm even considering going to shitty 02. Its not the shortcuts of the menu its the more button that gets me mad. Its sooooo useful

I've just phoned SE. They can't 'flash' the phone with the non-orange version because the phone is built for orange fw only. So, we're stuck unless orange put the functionality back in.

I do find this quite hard to believe. I know SE do makes phones specifically for networks (ie Vodafone) but I think in this case it is just sales speak.
Thre is nothing about the Orange phone to suggest it has been made specifically for them - its just a few simple software mods.

I had my phone delivered on Monday and apart from the shockingly bad battery life I'm having browser issues. Whenever I click on the OrangeWorld button, it connects, then tries to load but I get the message "No previous content available, stay in browser? Yes/No" Whatever I click it exits to the menu again... any ideas folks?
Thanks in advance.

I had a long chat with Orange last night.
Bottom line:
1) They are aware of the problem and have received a number of complaints. I got the impression it was a lot of complaints!
2) This chap said it must be a mistake as he can see no reason to disable the shortcut functionality and piss off clients and waste lots of customer service time speaking to them all!
3) He said I can take phone back to SE who will remove the Orange customisations. Orange have no problem with that. HOWEVER, and here is the issue, you lose Orange specific functionality - i.e. Line 1. This is a bugger as I will need Line 1 soon.
4) He said they always release new software, HOWEVER Orange don't do firmware updates (only things they can update via the sim). The only option is to get a new phone through insurance - i.e. Lost, Stolen, Damaged. Pretty silly eh! You can see where that one will lead...
So, there we go. He was sympathetic and said will put me on the list of people complaining about it. I would reset the firmware to SE standard but lose Line 1 so that is not an option unfortunately.
Hopefully they will release an update and there will be some way to get the new firmware.

This is just getting worse
So I'm guessing the K700 'New Message Alert' actually appears next to one of the little desktop icons? But then doesn't say who it's from?
And the missed call alerts? Does it just say missed call but no number? Can you then view the missed calls in the CALLS listing?
You can get Orange phone firmware upgraded... the CarphoneWarehouse near me has a service centre which can flash the phone.

There is also an issue with dialling the answer phone and making calls if you have line2. Seems

have done a good job with the software
