Looks like the DSS-25 does not work at present.
When I power-up the phone the Total Multiserver client does not detect the phone. I checked whether or not any data was coming from the port in hyperterminal on phone boot-up and there is not visible bootstrap notification being sent (admittedly I am only looking for ASCII). Once powered up I can talk to the phone ok, it echoes back whatever you type etc.
Tried it with and without flow-control with the same result.
Looks like I'll have to dig out my T28 cable and hack it.

I just have a thought I want to put out to you all. I remember something (not sure if it was true) that after a while Sony Ericsson blocked de-branded P900's from being able to use the online update service.
Two Questions:
A) Is this true
B) If so, are we all about to take the unecessary risk of not being able to use the update service in the future
Big deal! we cant use the update service properly for branded phones anyway!
If they do you can guarantee the new firmware files will be available elsewhere like they are now, and by then a free solution may be available.
Once you have the R2L firmware i dont think you'll even have a reason to need to upgrade yet again, mines working perfectly now

i just de-branded my K700i from o2 today using iamcruncie's guide (cheers for that, been looking to do that for ages!). Had to buy a T28 service cable cause I couldn't get it to work with my DSS-25, but hey, at least it's de-branded now.
But I too can't get the SE Update site to update my phone to R2M, it just says that I already have the latest firmware on the phone, but of course the firmware on the phone is R2L, not R2M.
Surely the online update service isn't THAT clever to detect the difference between an original un-branded phone, and a de-branded phone?

well i am on R2L, today I sat for 1 1/2 hours at a service centre miles from my home, but I got it done.
Do we know the improvements R2M brings yet

According to the thread below, R2M is just R2L renamed. No differences.

Well I have a problem!!!!!
I bought 2 credits, one to unlock and the other to unbrand the phone. Unlocking (the easiest part) was done first without problems.
However, when It came to download the files from the program, I found that the files were slightly different than those in iamcrunchie document.
I used the decustom flash, and then i installed the following files:
K700_FIRMWARE_ZONE_1_R2L001.K7S (flash)
K700_Lang_Pack_EU1_R2L001.K7L (language)
K700_EU1_R2L001.K7C (customisation)
the program uploaded the files but after the program started loading the language ("Loading Language...") i received error "0x003262" and my phone doesnt work
In a different file i found some comments at the end of iamcrunchie file stating i only have to use the flash and the language files.
ANY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
I tried using hte SE update service to fix the phone but its still broken

So maybe the online update service says I already have the latest cause it knows that R2L is the same as R2M? Is that what you are saying? It does ask if I want to overwrite my existing firmware anyway, if I were to do that, would it then appear as R2M on my phone?

It sounds like you did everything correctly (you used the correct files, etc). You could have lost your connection to the server, or you might have a faulty T28 cable.
When you have a problem with the server you need to take a screenshot and send it to the vendor you bought the credit from. They should then reimburse your account and let you flash it again.

Thanks anlog.. I dont think its the cable cos I have already unlock 2 phones (and old t39 and the recently deceased k700i) without any problem.
It could be a lost connection.. i doubt but everything is possible.
I have the screenshots anyway. The guy wasnt answering now but its far from office hours anyway. I bought another credit and trying to do it again. If it doesnt work ill take another screenshot and ask for a refund.
It sucks.. cos although i have orange care, itd cost 25 pounds to get it replaced

There is no R2M - the file just happens that have that string of characters in the name.
R2AA003 is officially released.
Changes:
- Faster main menu
- Autosave to SIM is enabled
Not much of an upgrade...
