@Whiz,
You are relating SE's market strategy to your geographic location. Outside of India, people are not worried about the price of the phones. As an example. Here in Kuwait, word of mouth has SE gaining market share. People are trying to turn in their old Nokia phones at SE dealers to get the P910, and s700. Here, SE is doing quite well. Here, price is no object. People buy the phones no matter what the price is. The marketing strategy is very effective here. People see SE as a high quality product that is in direct competition to Nokia and when they choose, they choose SE.

@sapporo, how much is the population of Kuwait? What ever it may be, compare that with that of Indias then say how can SE choose to ignore a market which already has 45 million subscribers, 90 percent of whom use a basic mono display phone, a market which has a huge potential and a population of more than many European nations combined. How can SE choose to ignore the needs of the people here? There's a huge market for high end phones here too. But not as huge as the low end.

@van so the contries would be classified on some way, i mean, the se market in a country will reflect the average of usage.

If only

can penetrate even just half of China's population, then surely they'll be having the 'biggest' share of the mobile phone's - PIE ! As also, if they can get that of India's . . . second most populous country in the world!

But as long se concentrate on k7, s7, p series etc those masses fefl lost. K5 should be the low end level, the latest t and j are a joke. If ppl want cam and other fun features, let them have it

@jojo
Sony Ericsson have quite a big hold on the market in china, as you can read the press conference in beijing report concerning sony ericsson
here:
1_1_1&zone=pc&lm=pc1&prid=2601" target="_blank" rel="nofollow]http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1_1_1&zone=pc&lm=pc1&prid=2601
furthermore, india is a populous country, but that doesn't go to say everyone can afford mobile phones. I would rather

focus on development in taking the mobile industry forward, then going backwards and wasting their time on low end phones!
