Attached is the response from SE on the issues highlighted on the Video and Photo quality reduction after firmware change.

Any comment?

I would hardly call a drop in video bitrate, from being able to record at 190kbit/s to a totally unacceptable 68kbit/s a firmware update that enhances the general performance of the phone.

I thought long and hard about making the switch from being an avid Nokia user to Sony ericsson and now I feel, as I'm sure many other people do, let down and very angry that such a major performance degredation has been thrust upon us with no word of warning or option to make an informed decision as to whether to use the updated firmware.

Whilst the latest firmware update (R1L002) does fix some freezing problems, has increased audio output and created an mp3 folder, these are 'fixes' which should have been resolved before the handset was even released to the general public and if SE have lowered the recording bitrate as a trade off for greater stability, then I think this shows pretty poor project management and the software develpment team at Sony Ericsson should really learn to communicate more and listen to feedback from the people who, at the end of the day, pay their wages, the end user.

It was only after I updated the firmware that I discovered this major flaw and I think that SE should have a major rethink as to their confidentiality policy with regards to firmware updates, or when using the SEUS, give the end user the option of choosing which firmware version best suits his/her needs and at the very least, there should be an estimated release date for updates shown, because I'm now totally in the dark as to whether anything further is planned for the K750i firmware or whether R1L002 is the last update planned.

With no details or fix list openly available, many people, like myself, will blindly assume that firmware updates from such a main player as SE will be beneficial, only to regret it afterwards. I think in all other ways, the phone is fantastic, but ultimately, if the lowering of the video bitrate problem is not acknowledged or dealt with by Sony Ericsson then I will end up regretting having ever purchased the phone.

@alex

nice post, I totally agree...

if SE does not fix this problem, then they will lose a considerable amount of trust

Well like i said to stephannl "I'll believe it when i see it. I tend not to get my hopes up too high until something actually happens or we have an official statement from SE".

SE have not released any statements telling customers that they're intending the fix the video quality of the K750i.

If they dont, im seriously considering selling my K750i and buying a Nokia.

"Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

Good service ? that just looks like an automated response email from them passing the buck.

It doesnt explain whether they'll increase the video quality or not.
