Yup, Agile Messenger is still free for me here in the US. I keep getting the new version notification though, which I always cancel. Hehehe. I'm guessing the newer version is a trap to start charging me.

Well, its finally happened. Agile Messenger finally caught me. They wouldn't let me continue using the application without updating the current software. Man, I wonder if I should use verichat then. Any other few messengers out there?

If you only use MSN, I highly recommend jMSN Messenger:

I've used both this and Agile and, for me, jMSN comes out on top.

A big difference is that jMSN lets you use the return key on the keypad (or virtual keyboard) to send a message, just like in the 'real' Messenger. Agile does not.

It connects significantly quicker too (or, rather, Agile is quite slow to connect).

It's available for a one-off payment of around $20. Bear in mind that Verichat requires a subscription (IIRC).

I moved away from Agile to Verichat. If I was going to pay for an app it wasn't going to be Agile, which takes forever to sign on and even then didn't always.

Verichat is fast, works in flip closed mode and is overall pretty good. There's a few things I don't like about it:

1) It uses a proxy server. You don't connect directly with the IM services, but rather via Verichat's servers. This is why it's so fast, but it's also a problem if Verichat decide next year to shut down, you're left with an app that won't work anymore

2) There's no history save. Once you've closed the app all messages are lost.

I've emailed them asking for a update to save history, I know there won't be an update for number 1 but I'll be amazed myself if I'm still using my P910i in 2 years time...

For the record, jMSN Messenger *doesn't* use a proxy server (connects directly), *and* has a history save function!
