Well the fact of the matter is that some people are more susceptible to such things than others. Such an event would likely lead to massive death rates as cancer rates soar.
It is likely that some people who are more resilient to UV radiation would survive. It is also possible that such an eventuality would spur governments on to discover a treatment as quickly as possible or to even repair the Ozone layer. It is already possible to create artificial ozone although the process is extremely expensive. However, if there was a serious threat to humanity from ozone depletion then I suppose the governments of the world would have no other choice really.

Why do we see the end of the world only in the human context? Even when we talk about pollution, it only means the the increase of "harmful gases" in the atmosphere. Harmful gases for us. Not necessarily others. There are living things which can survive in chemically dangerous situations (for us) So can we assume that the earth was polluted at the time of its creation when it was said to be filled with noxious gases? Is venus polluted? Or jupiter? We humans are a hypocritical lot.

The Earth existed long before humanity came into existence, it is likely to exist long after we are gone.
I always remember the analogy of a year ...
If the history of the Earth were one year then human beings would have appeared at approximately one minute to midnight on December 31st.

Hiroshima is a still a thriving city. War memorials exist that ensure the pain and suffering from that awful day are not forgotten.
Enough weapons exist to destroy all major and strategic targets. You have to think of docks and ports, strategic railway junctions and motorway interchanges, power stations infact any built up or sensitive area.
If you look at a map of the world and all of its major conurbations it actually occupies a very small area. In other words a very high proportion of the population live on a very small proportion of the land.
There are vast tracts of land that are very sparsely populated.
Also, what about the islands of the Pacific and Indian Ocean?
Mankind will survive. In one form or another. It won't be the end of the world - unless we are hit by a meteor and if that happens then we will become the new dinosaurs.

The end of world are not caused by humans... humans like us are like ants... we can not simply destroy Earth.. Even the most advance technology or the biggest Mommas Nuclear Bomb wont do it!! One of the signs of the end is near.. is when a new faith is born... and this new faith Will have proof thats its faith is real... Because there will be a prophet in the future... And this prophet isnt any kind of prophet, he has powers, he can bring the sun towards earth, stop the rotation of Earth, do what no man can do.. powers of previous prophets had.. BUT!! we Islam are prepared, he isnt a prophet, its a test from God b4 the world end.. to see if we loyal and stick to our faith that is Islam.. "There is one God and Prophet Mohammad is the Last messenger of God" thats all we need to know, no other prophet will be born... Thus making this new prophet in the future a Fake, the Devil!
Dont say i didnt warn you guys, im just doing u guys a favor telling my religion future events found in the Quran... Coz as i love my religion so much, I too love you all, as we all came from Adam the 1st prophet, and we are all brothers and sisters... once again its all up to you to believe... cheers!
