well,Austrai parlemento has rejected the " make a referandum about Turkey s memebership to EU" so they have opened the way of Turkey to EU.

As I say, I look forward to Turkey becoming a member, it will add some diversity and make the EU more dynamic.

I asked this a few posts ago too but it got enveloped in that little flame war, but what do people think about Russia joining? It, like Turkey, has a bit of it in Europe, and a large amount of the country is in Asia. Just imagine, if Russia was in the EU, it's borders would stretch all the way to the US (Alaska's border)!

Well, when it abolishes the death penalty and becomes a working democracy, we could consider it. Turkey has made a real effort to come up to "European norms".

yes,but only european part of Russia.
Why ? Pacific ocean has never belonged to Europe.

Asian part should belong to Asian Union.Certainly Russia would be still one state.
absin ..., the same reason for usa why can't be part of EU [death penalty]

@sammy,

Russia s so worry for contribution of Turkey into EU.coz They have thought to be a strategical aggrement with us.And tried to built up a new global block,Turkey-Russia-China-India-Iran(iran s a question)
And of course EU has seen this thing.
