Before you do this remember to
read the posts in that thread (at least the first post and the last couple pages) and
backup for stuff before you do anything you're unsure of. If you're still uncertain ask.
To Root:
go to
this link
download Flash Tool 0.2.6
install the flash tool
run X10FlashTool.exe
click root
follow the instructions
This should do you.

I should get the box, charger, cable...
You should get a set of standard headphones and either a 2gb or 8gb Micro SD memory card in the box. Also depending on the region you might get some or all of the following items included in the box:-
CCR-80 Micro SD USB adaptor
Spare Screen Protector
Bluetooth Headset
Xperia Branded Pouch
EC500 Media Stand
In my Black X10 which was from O2 UK I got an Xperia Branded pouch,Spare screen protector and a CCR-80 but in my White Sim Free French X10 I just got the basics (Phone,battery,8gb SD memory card, wired headphones,EP700 USB cable,CST-80 usb mains charger and the paperwork)
It all depends on where you have the phone from.
I guess, that somebody has taken the rest of the goodies from the box, but tomorrow i will see what we are talking about. It is good that i would have the option to actually ckeck the contents before paying the courier, but if the device has no marks of usege, and it has all of the harware properly working i guess i would buy it. On the pictures it really does look new. I have a spare 2GB card from my previous HD2, so i would only need a headphoes, which i could get for 5-6Eur.

If the phone is new the memory card will be in the phone already. Dont forget that the memory card contains all the pre installed content (PC Companion, User Guide, Notification sounds etc)
Some of it can be downloaded from the

website but some of the items cannot.

Q: Are you working on Android 2.2 or Android 2.3 for the 2010 products.
A: No – as explained earlier we currently don’t plan to upgrade the 2010 products to Android versions beyond 2.1
We knew this but it's still sad, especially as HTC for example has just announced that the original Desire will get Android 2.3:
HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S Gingerbread update in Q2

clearly wants us to forget about the 2010 models and concentrate on the 2011 Gingerbread models...
