You mean N400 "nightly"?

i'm on the night shift, dunno if i ll be able to rack up 3gigs on it because i'm outta 3G coverage so its only gprs and connecting that to the laptop only makes my phone sweat and my laptop groan cos its snail speed or even worse. all i use it for is to browse via my operamini and download a few things for the java phone. well if they renegade on the pre-nupt i 'll holla.
peace.

@2tek, that's the reason why I'm not subscribing to the mtn data service yet. There's no 3g coverage in akure, and I don't wanna waste my money on snail speed gprs when I have experienced 250kb/sec download speed in Lagos on same network.

Oluyom you have solved the puzzle. On behalf of fellow pnf members i award you the Nobel prize for cognitive reasoning. I was activated by 10.32pm on 24/8/08 and i disconnected at about 1.25am on 25/8/08
I have also noticed that speed decreases from midnight

Dear friend, I am not as smart as you think. That award belongs to my co-contributor at MobilityNigeria.com, Dayo Olutunfese. He came up with the theory.

Thanks still.

I am yet to notice the speed difference between GPRS and 3G here in Ibadan, both are equally slow, night or day.

@artwales: That would suggest that while 3G infrastructure is in place at your location (and you can see a 3G icon on your phone), its not actually active yet. I could be wrong though - and that would be the most absurd scenario ever for an active 3G network.

@ artwales,3g is on full throttle in Ibadan. i was in ib last wknd, and i got lag speed there too. it aint wide spread tho'. it's there in UCH cos thats where i stayed. it was absent in AKOBO. I'm sure it will be in d heavy zones e.g U.I,DUGBE.
I ve switched on all pics etc in my browser so that i won't short change myself.
@d pnfer formerly known as AYA,tot broadband was supposed to deliver speeds up to 3MB?

@2tek: Theoretically, 3G gives 384kbps max. In reality, you'll get between 150 and 250kbps. 3.5G (HSDPA) gives you 3.6mbps theoretically. In reality, you get between 300 and 800kbps regular and can peak 1.8mbps during downloads (I have). Note also that you cannot experience the glory of 3G/3.5G broadband by browsing on your phone because of limited processing power. But as a modem with your PC, enjoy true broadband...
