I'm really disappointed with my W910 on O2. This is the 3rd one I've had in 4 months, the others have all had faults!

This one has now started playing up as the screen goes off and the phone needs turning off and back on again...

Good old O2 you pay for a new phone, and yet as soon as they go wrong you end up with a refurbished one!

I'm seriously thinking of purchasing something else to be honest!

Hi everybody!

I just collected W910i from my service provider - color is havana bronze. I had option for red, black and havana bronze and I think havana bronze looks better than other two.

So far so good, except the handset suddenly refused to acknowledge the SIM. Even restart did not work - was necessary to remove the battery. I think SIM is not the problem in this case.

I am trying to remove the SIM from my new W910i but I don't find an easy way. It seems that I need to use tweezers to remove it. It not like any of the SE phones I had/have. It looks like S500i but pushing the SIM inside is useless - it doesn't pop out. Please help!

I did manage to remove the SIM by pressing forward exposed part of the SIM. But it is not convenient.

I just got my w910 so I'll share my experience with you. I'll skip the good sides, because it's the faults that spoil all the fun for me.

- Phone is soooo sloooow. Without music playing it is so so (still a lot slower than my k750 with w800 firmware) but when I listen to mp3's and try to navigate the menus... c'mon, it is supposed to be a music phone when it seems playing mp3's is using almost all of its resources.

- Buttons on the side are ridiculous. I'm having trouble pressing volume buttons with my phone in my hand, not to mention when the phone is in my pocket. In k750 I can easily reach to my pocket, feel the volume buttons and change track playing. It seems to be impossible with w910. Also, how can I play/pause a song?

- Walkman button? It is so hard to press that I have to use two hands to do that.

- Why in a slider phone the shortcut for silent mode is still '#'? Why not make it 'c'? Now I have to slide the phone open when I want to silence it.

- Built in speaker is one of the worst I've seen. It is indeed very loud, but the sound is extremaly distorted. It's almost useless.

- Built in camera is a big step back. Why in a such expensive piece of hardware I have to deal with no AF and no light at all? (I found the LEDs in other SE phones very useful as a flashlight)

- The screen automatically turns off much too quickly. I'm working on some flash wallpapers right now and it drives me insane that after a few seconds screen goes out. There should be an option to set that time.

- When I enter multimedia library and try to browse tracks I see all the recordings I made with sound recorder. Why? It isn't so in k750.

- Basically there is too little configuration options. I'd like to disable the operator logo, disable standby time and date, hide sony ericsson links in multimedia library, but I can't.

- Data transfer statistics are in bytes...

That's all that comes to my mind right now. Hope its not too much for you, but I'm really disappointed that my old k750 was more useful as a music phone that this one is.

The speed of menu operation is O.K. with my phone when I play preinstalled music. How big is your mp3 file?

All of the buttons of my phone are normal so far. You may have faulty buttons.

SE wants to break the sliding mechanism as soon as possible so that you will buy a new one soon after.

I agree partially, it is still O.K. at low volume.

I agree with you.

I agree for the time setting option, without this option shorter auto screen off is required to save power.

It's a normal few megabytes mp3 file. Menus really slow down when music is playing. The menu opening animation (when icons burst from the center of the screen) has like 4 frames of animation in uneven intervals, when normally it has 8-10 frames (on K750 it's even smoother). Tab switching animation sometimes has 0 frames (one tab, than after a while immediately next tab).

I've quickly put together a speed test, please set this as your wallpaper and tell me your scores. Mine are:
Without music: 13,5 fps
With music: 8,4 fps

PS
I've got a 08W22 model with latest firmware.
