I guess Sony Ericsson just realised it wasn't that bright to not give the X10 an official support for Android 2.0
Right now, Acer Liquid is the only phone with Android 1.6 and that's the only phone you will see this year with it.
For next year the X10 is the only one that has officially been announced to come with Android 1.6. Samsung and HTC haven't got any new phone announched to use 1.6.

But that was so obvious.

is not stupid enough to make such a big mistake like releasing a new phone, new UI, new way of communication without providing constant updates.
You'll see that, timescape and mediascape will be available not just for high-end mobile phones. We'll see them on walkman and cybershot series as well. (or equivalent of them) Not as fancy as on X10 of course.
Sony is going to integrate Facebook on Playstation 3. We might see mediascape and timescape on PSP and PS3 as well. That would be an incredible integration.
I'm exited about that. As a former software developer I might even try to learn java to have some fun on X10
