I see distortions usually indoor photos.
Doors, walls. Depends on how close I am.
I gets better if I am not that close.

Some outdoor photos I see too .. Buildings or street lights.
But pretty rare.

Not sure if I understood what Sony has said.
Seems they want cam to work as wider and not wide same time.
Something like that.

Maybe not all units have it.. There are users with this issues and others without them.
Tech websites have articles on that but based on users affected.
Many sites have had the phone and did not notice..
Even GSMArena when compared XZP x i7+ x u11 says XZP was better in most shots.
On auto mainly.

About the Weibo conversation, even translated to english sounds very confusing.
All I can understand is a version of XZ1 might have 6GB ram + 128 storage.
Until XZs one team was in charged of cam software, since XZP other people.
Someone also says Sony should bring back Scenario for manual mode..

Scenario is very useful. The only way I can use 1s SS and low ISO together.
Only issue is damn 8MP only.

Other phones use low ISO when detect low light on auto, Sony phones try to reach 12800.
It is too high for most situations..

@archidragoon.... Does it happen to 4:3 too or only for 16:9 ?

Wide angle lenses usually do suffer from either pincushion or barrel distortion for various reasons. Its usually easily corrected in post and most camera software can account for it. Building a totally distortion free super wide angle lens is hard, and really isn't worth the trouble in smartphones, so they probably just software correct it.

Hi

I have found something else..
It seems that XZP red aka Rosso will be 6 + 128.
It might be a Docomo phone, also available in Taiwan.
It may arrive with XZ1.

Hi LumberjackX,

it's happen to both aspect ratio.

The thing I dislike is the answer and response from SONY staff. While Samsung notice that their S7 has distortion issues they start develop the shape correction for their customer rather than talking nonsense like SONY staff.

Yes it's just like you said. It doesn't distort at the same level on every unit. I see that some unit is even bad than mine.

@arch

Let's hope it is something that can be fixed by software and not a physical issue.

There is a youtuber, he has XZs and XZP.
When phones boots up , top of screen has something like a white stripe, on the upper edge of screen.
It happens only when screen goes completely white.
My z3+ has it too. I guess it started after nougat.

Has anyone seen this on their phone?

just because of his word is not possible to use machine translate

what he said is

"Just to notice you guys, my friend told me with so much confident about the coming phone of Sony mobile worth to be expected, also about the distortion, there's a compromise solution, not the after process like Samsung, but full solution need to wait until XZ1, but I have to tell you all, dont give too much expectation to Sony mobile, if they can really solve it, it can be even better than lund, if the coming Xperia with 6+128, then why still need photo taking? using smoothly is just amazing, as long as camera can take will be fine"

this mean of distortion will be solve, and have chance to get 6+128 Xperia in 2017 or 2018

well, the quality are completely different between the 2 companies.

whenever someone talks about Samsung flagships, the first things comes to mind is army grade grenade and refurb grenade. under this impression, it's reasonable for Samsung to react fast on issues impacting a good percentage of its users

The 6 + 128 is actually XZP not XZ1.
The red XZP might be 6GB ram and 128GB storage.
Docomo version for Japan, then released in Taiwan.
Have no idea if it will be somewhere else.

http://sumahoinfo.com/xperia-[....]-camera-distortion-issue-fixed

I do not like this.. Other OEMs are doing that already.
Usually more ram and storage for their countries and China.

S6 blue has 128GB.
S7 edge black piano has 128GB
S8+ for China and South Korea has 6/128

Same for U11... It seems Moto Z2 Force will have 6+128 somewhere too.

Some areas have G6 32GB, others 64.
Some areas got X or XZ single ( 32GB), other dual (64GB).

Here, we had both X and X Dual, but sadly no XZ dual just XZ.
XZ Premium is single sim too.

@tonylcc,

I hope so.

@supercoolman,

Hahaha that's right. If there's new mobile nuclear come from Samsung again then it might be disaster.

Of the three leaked model numbers, I guess just the G83XX and the G84XX will be announced at IFA. IFA isn't as big of a mobile show as MWC, therefore I'm expecting them to only bring out the flagships and leaving out the mid-range handset G34XX.
