From experience I've noticed that MTN blocks certain ports used by java applications. The same can be said for Vodafone Live or Vodacom for that matter. I can't access CNN mobile on any of Vodacom's APN's.

Both MTN and Vodacom have been intermittently stuffed the past few days. Calls and sms go thru fine, mostly, but gprs has been patchy at best. MTN seemed to clear up late yesterday afternoon, and hasn't given problems since, but we'll see closer to the 1st whether that will still hold true.

A couple of months after the W710i hit the shelves, the Z710i is available from today at the UK's Carphone Warehouse.
It's initial price is £119.95 (approx R1680), when bought with £10 of airtime.

I'd hate to pass judgement on another country's legal process around the trial of Hussein looked flawed even from my ivory tower in SA. Was saying to a friend this morning that I would've preferred if he had been tried at The Hague at the UN's Warcrimes Tribunal... The haste to execute him was disturbing from a country which hopes to be internationally respected.

I am goiing through all the posts and replying as I read..

Okay, been quiet long enough...I have been watching movie after movie the last few days...MIND-NUMBING...

Anyway, about the speed thing...the sad thing here in PTA is this, and it has happened to me every time I do speed: I usually end in the close 150-160km/h, and even when I go that fast, most of the cars pass me as if I am standing still. The people around here are in some sort of hurry you don't have at the coast. It is not safe, but anyway....

@ siosal, I do not dare buy a new PC until Vista is out. If I do, I certainly will be screwed. MS are not the friendliest of folks when it comes to computing power. YOu want Vista to run in full graphical mode, and work well, you are going to need a near-super computer...Sad but true.

The last time I went to harties was when Jim, my pal that lives in the UK was here. The zoo is always fun. Lots of snakes and tigers and lions and such. It is on our doorstep, so a nice place to quickly go without going too far. Sun City is a bit further, but its always good...it always has its advantages...got some pictures I took the one time with a zoom lens camera, but safer not to share them...half of you chaps are married;-) Was pretending to take pictures of some kids that was there with me, but with the zoom you are zoomed in over their shoulders, onto the subject of interest...lol!

Oh yeah, I eventually got round to see that Sony Ericsson commercial the other day. I liked it, but too few gadgets. But yeah, the bond was not too bad. Liked the poker, and loved the chick....Was also nice to see the first bad guy, the one with the hot wife in the beginning have the w900i...It looks so nice unbranded..wish i did not have the Vodafone crap on mine...But they really made the phones look awesomely cool I must say...Rumors are doing the round that Spiderman will be the same...

@ GUCCI.011, welcome! Make sure you check what firmware you have before getting new firmware. Sometimes they don't upgrade it and say they did. bastards! To check your current firmware, push > * Service Info>Software info. Mine is R5BC004 Not sure what the latest is. Will try to find out.

@ medusa, cool about the job!

@ the whole Saddam thing, the fact is, he was bad. They no like him, not many people do. How many innocent people have lost their heads anyway? I doubt it will stop, but yeah...Who are we to judge...We kill chickens to eat them, we make little kids cry....So I just say Saddammit!

Okay, last thing, if I don't post again soon, Happy New Year to all! Make it a good one!

Welcome back, Francois! It's been quieter around here without all your diverse posts.
Was about to organise a search party, swaer.

More about this handset (below) later:

Ntini, yer beauty. So the decider is to be in CT.

Right, about the handset in the previous post.

UBiQUiO (what a weird name...) produce a whole host of different electronic gadgets. Expansys import them.
Now I'm very wary of relatively unknown makes, but this non-3G Windows 5.0 smartphone has some interesting features.
Firstly, apart from the O2 Stealth, it's the only Windows 5.0 slider with conventional keypad, as opposed to the qwerty's of some of the others. It is a bit bulky, but is still 2mm less in girth than the P990i, as well as being shorter (109mm compared to the P990i's 114mm) and narrower (53.5mm compared to the P990i's 57mm).
It has wi-fi and Bluetooth, A2DP, FM radio and an in-built TV tuner. (The TV's antennae is in the headset, with the FM radio's.)
The camera is a 2mp with flash, but there is no mention of auto focus. It comes supplied with a 256MB mini SD card.
Included in the package is a handy 3.5mm audio jack adapter.
Also has direct push email.

The processor is an impressive Intel 416 Mhz.
The standard battery might be a weak point though, at 840mAh, but a 1300 mAh is available for about £13 extra.

In all, not too shabby (specs-wise) for a non-3G smartphone at £209.95 (approx R2940) sim-free.

I wonder how difficult it would be to get GPRS settings for this smartphone from the networks...

Yeah, his half brother and that judge are only being executed after Eid.

PS: I admit that Rahul Dravid was very unlucky to be given out, but that's how it goes sometimes. Almost as bad as some of those numerous shockers that Rudi Koertzen made in the last 2 Ashes tests.
Even so, that 'display' by England in the 4th test had to be some of the most pitiful cricket by an England side that I've seen in a long time.

So you're testing the E61 again. Sounds like you've got a really lekker job with all those handsets at your disposal, KBR.
