Possibly the last of the P900 pictures that I'll be posting.

Nothing much, just a few snaps over the past week or so.

Taken on 24/12 on board the Woolwich Ferry in east London, taking us in the car from north of the Thames River to south.

The Thames Barrier in the far distance on a gloomy midday, taken from the ferry again:

A few nights before the 24th, many domestic flights were cancelled due to heavy fog that literally 'hung' over the whole area for several days, both day and night:

And then on to today. A clear (!), mild and blue skies, sunny new year's day. The weather's gone haywire this winter so far...

I'm phoning O2 tomorrow to request my 3G usim for the N73, so I'll still be using the P900 'till then at least. May even keep it with a spare sim in for forums like esato etc. when I'm away from a PC; still nothing better than scroll n' stylus.
However, no more crappy VGA pics or even 1.3mp pics to contend with.

After 2 years and 8 months, my P900 is no longer my primary phone. It has had an excellent innings, and has been the BEST, most reliable phone that I've owned to date, no question.

Now let's see what Carl Zeiss and 3.2 megapixels with autofocus is all about...

Hi Guys!

Welcome to Tokoloshe!!!

Hope all of you had a safe new years day!!

I'm at work and suffering from severe fatigue, will probably end up sleeping at my desk later on... My sisters kids are wearing me out, but still love them to bits. They talk and scream and shout non stop!!

So imagine you're at the Cango caves in Oudsthoorn enjoying your new years day and you end up getting stuck behind a fat woman for a LONG time.... Well, it happened yesterday! Read below, article appeared on news24.

----------------------
Woman freed from Cango Caves
02/01/2007 07:00 - (SA)

Johannesburg - An obese woman was freed ten hours after becoming trapped in a narrow passage in the Cango Caves, the Oudtshoorn metro said on Monday night.

"Normally guides tell people: 'If you are too big or small you can't go in.' I don't know why she went in there," said an unnamed spokesperson.

The woman was "fine", she said.

She was not taken to hospital.

Another 22 people were trapped with the woman in the tunnel more than a kilometre into the caves, reported SABC radio news.

They included a diabetic man to whom medication had to be taken.

A rescue team from George was understood to have cut away a part of the cave to free the woman after initial attempts to get her out.

@ all, happy new year from me...yes, back at the office...i need my bed!

@ Tokoloshe, welcome!

@ brix, sorry about the pics....i was in one of those "go big or go home" moods when I uploaded it...via dial up nogal;-)

@ Wanqa, my friend who got the N80, the girl he is interested in and actively getting to know got the N73 like 3 days before he got the N80. He says a lot of the options and functions seem to be the same. I am about to start looking for games for him.

So yeah, I had a quiet New Years...but 1am everyone usually gathers somewhere, at my house this time. Sat up the whole night.

My new years resolutions is always the same: to not have any resolutions.lol!

I, for once do not have much to say...

Oh by the way, did anybody hear Thabo Mbeki's new years eve speech? I want to get it, it was SO SO SO GWB funny! lol!

He said things along the lines of the following:
Tonight when going out and enjoying yourself, do not spoil someone else's evening by killing them. Killing is highly illegal and will be punishable by many years in prison...

At this point i could not listen because i was laughing so much...youtube has it not yet...darn!

@ Mario,
Thanks boet, but I'm somewhat of a reluctant prodigal son regarding the Nokia smartphone fold; you may remember I had, until a month ago, a S60 Nokia 3230 for the best part of a year and a half. That phone never gave me any grief whatsoever either. I'll be keen to explore what's available for the new, developing version 3 of S60. Just waiting for the 3G sim from O2 now. They're moving my number across to the new sim within the next few days.
I will miss my P900 as my primary phone; give me UIQ3 any day. But if can provide a better cam-equipped smartphone package (hopefully with the M600i's rumoured replacement), I'll be happily hanging onto the N73.

@ Francois,
Your connection just needs to be aware that the 'naytie' (N80) has had its fair share of complaints and bugs. It'd be worth the while for the person to check out forums regarding these before contemplating the handset. (or any handset for that matter.)
2 phones spring to mind that I didn't end up pursuing, once I read every review I could find on them. Once there seemed to be more than enough evidence of the same specific issues for each handset from all these sites, I wasn't going to be dof to contemplate these handsets any further. They were the T600 and UBiQUiO 401. (I recently posted info and pics on the latter.)

Another reason why I opted for the N73 is that one of my prime enjoyments of owning higher spec phones is taking pics, which I guess is very obvious on this thread.
The N73 appealed with its smartphone abilities but also included auto-focus with its Carl Zeiss-lensed 3.2mp cam, which Nokia omitted on the N80's 3.2 mp cam! Yes, the N80 has wi-fi, but no prizes as to which features I'm going to predominantly be using...

@ wanqa, i did research the n80 months ago as it was one of my considerations, and I got the complaints and the good listed. the big complaint was the position of the keypad, and the complaints were sort of the same amount as was for the w900i, so yeah, we will see how it goes. there are going to be issues, but will see what they are...

Anyone have an idea where i can get games for the n80? lol!

@ Francois: I'll a google on those N80 issues, swaer. There's a few threads on esato about these too. Will post some links for you later
BTW, would love to check out the prez's speech. Hopefully it'll appear on youtube soon.

Anywayz,

My brand new precious:

The seller had it exactly as it came from O2 online contracts. O2 contract phones are the only UK phones, apart from most of the CPW stock, that come totally unbranded and unlocked:

I'll be giving the O2 promo Jamiroquai freebies a miss...

@ wanqa, those links will be appreciated...Anyway, the packaging pretty much the same as my friends, or the same style and accessories. It looks so nice! I like the lens cover thing. It is very stylish, neat, and got some power under the hood...nice!
