That's pretty much the way it is. Nigeria, we hail thee!

I think the problem is that Nigeria is dry tech wise. Nothing really to excite the "boyz". Our phone industry must be one of the driest in the world. We dont get new phones (why is iPhone not launching in Nigeria?), our data services are epileptic and prohibitively expensive etc.

Nigeria is only good for the mid-range phones. Not much wireless hot spots (so wifi phones are of no value), no map for Nigeria (so gps is of no use on our phones), monthly cost of mobile data is more than the minimum wage (so HSDPA are way out), what then is there to post about in forums like this?

well peoples, etisalat set up a shop in Ibadan today to redeem the uchoose0809 numbers and yours truly was one of the first callers!

I'm adequately impressed by their range of value added services in-principle. Check them out.

1. Receiving party pay (You can call somebody's number and the person agrees to pay for the call). Used to be "Collect call" or "reversed charges" calls. Very useful thing to have knowing that you can always make that important call even if you cant recharge your phone.

2. You can recharge another line from your phone. Your old man never need to recharge his phone again. Hey son, recharge my phone!

3. Missed call notification (you recieves sms for calls made to your phone while it is off or out of network)

These are in addition to the usuals.

@adrusa: Sounds interesting! At least, they are being original.

Any news about their Lagos outlets?

PS: So, did you get to pick up your SIM?
