When you say right now, no other phone offers what the K800i does, are you joking ?

Well, I have one word for you, D600.

Who's joking now ?!

All that etaab is saying is that video recording on this phone could and should've been upgraded. There is no reason to try and defend SE on this one. Even I can't see why the K310 for example, should have same recording capabilities as the K800. I'm NOT saying that the K800 isn't a good blend of good technology in a small device, but surely, QCIF is outdated. No one is saying that the K800 should have the same specs as the N93 but CIF or even QVGA recording would be nice.

I don't think anyone can seriously justify the fact that K800 should have QCIF recording.

@Blade Runner

Even a quick look at the specs of the D600 will tell you its no match for the K800i.

The camera isn't as nearly as well equipped for a start and the K800i is 3G so its just faster.

I dont see why we compare a S90 mobile to the K800...
Have you guys heard the term "Theres no replacement for displacement!"

That N93 is massive and 180grams!!! But obviously it has better features!! Data features are far more superior to the K800.

@ everyone: i compare the N93 to the K800i on camera quality alone, im discounting any other smartphone / size issues.

Sure, both phones have advantages over the other, the K800i has Bestpic and the xenon flash, the N93 optical zoom and VGA video. Personally though, im not too bothered about Bestpic (i dont want to spend 10 minutes everytime i take a picture going over the results with a fine tooth-comb trying to find perfection) or the Xenon flash (i never take pictures in the dark anyway, in fact i tend to capture more videos - a LED comes in handy for that purpose, a xenon would be useless).

But the point is as shaliron said, there is no reason to justify why SE did not increase video recording resolution. It just SCREAMS to me SE are either too lazy to develop newer, faster technology that can handle higher video capture resolutions, or they're simply being ignorant to the consumer.

As much as i love the K800i and what it can do, i wont be buying one unless it drops massively in price or a better Walkman alternative appears in a few months time like the W800i did last year, with up to date video recording.

I've been following this thread for a while as I suspect the K800i will be my next phone but I haven't posted anything because I didn't think there's much to say. But the moaners are standing proud.

I have to say that I completely disagree with etaab that SE are "they're simply being ignorant to the consumer". SE know that the average man on the street doesn't even know the difference between CIF and QCIF (go and ask a random 10 people on the street and I bet only 1 out of 10 - if that - knows what the hell you're on about) and it's only enthusiasts who will cry out for the better quality video recording.

So why put in a technology that is more expensive to develop and that the consumer doesn't even know about when you can sell just as many phones without it? It doesn't make good financial, marketing or general business sense.

As the saying goes: "you can't please all of the people all of the time". I'm sure SE are happy to keep the majority happy and will eventually cater for the minority with whatever new produces/features they bring out in the future.

But its a bit nerve recking that they gave QVGA to the W900 and not the K800.
