Try out Pocket Blonde its in Market, and seems to do what you want, i havent tried it yet but looks good, also get Sanity, those two together seem like a good combo.

My guess is yes. MS was too laggy and slow
There is a reason for why SE removed it in the new xperia line.

Indeed I hated it. It was so bloody poor too in terms of my album art would either vanish or every album would have the same cover or album art would appear in gallery. Complete mess.
