I've been able to change alarm volume by playing back the alarm tone and raising the volume there.

You phone is BRODed

Means it has the Blue Ring Of Death, a mix between hardware and software failure.

Try to reflash it using SEUS (sony ericsson update software) and keep us informed.

If this doesn't work, prepare your credit card and go to davinci team to have it reflashed.

Something I really miss in SE firmwares is better customization of profiles. I.e. different ring tones/sms tones or vibrate settings depending on profile.

Also, why is it impossible to set a contact-specific sms-tone just like the ring tone?

Does anyone know if any custom firmwares include these or SE have any plans on this?

you can set different messages tone for each contact and also set different Alarm volume on new A200 phones like C702 or C902. theres a new option for that..

hey everyone.. i need your help. ive had the K850i for about 5 months now.. i love the phone.. but my keypad is starting to come off.. i want to change to a different phone.. .is it worth it to switch to a nokia N82? does anyone know how the picture quality on the N82 compares with the K850i please help

If you are happy with your K850 just change the housing, you dont have to buy another phone just because the keypad is "starting to come off"

jigonx > I think the poster wanted to have the same custom ring tone for each user to also sound off when a message arrives. I recall this option being available on my Motorola E1000. That and the Moto calculator are perhaps the Only redeeming qualities of Moto phones (the calculator uses the joystick for + - x / I find that Much more efficient and hope that SE would one day start using this).

Just download the Sony Ericsson Update Service program from their site, install it and follow the instructions it provides. You might have your phone back alive in less than an hour.
If this fails, you can use one of the paid services such as KulanKendi or DaVinci. Otherwise, you will have to send your phone to an SE service to have it fixed (for free if it's still under warranty).

Increasing or decreasing the volume during Alarm tone selection doesn't affect the alarm volume when the alarm actually rings. It still starts at the lowest volume and gradually increases.

May be u'd been able to change it but i've never experienced it.

Hi guys, i have a little problem =/. I recently bought my k850i and i must say i do like the phone, but i can't seem to be able to update it to the latest firmware. I don't have a lot of experience with flashing/updating cell phones, so i am really confused. My current firmware is R1EA037, and when i start SEUS and try to update my phone, it goes "your mobile phone is up to date". Any ideas? =/
