Agree with Bono, the x10 is still the nicest looking droid from SE
No way. In the flesh the Arc is way more stunning to hold, to look at and to use than the X10, I was pleasantly surprised when I had the chance to play with a silver one earlier today

Are they planning on removing Mediascape in the update I wonder?
Yes and so will the camera UI, which will be Android stock UI.

Will any functionality from the previous software version disappear by doing this upgrade?
Yes – the work is still ongoing so details will be communicated closer to launch but these are the current expected limitations:
•The current plan is that the XperiaTM X10 will get the Android standard Camera user interface and therefore features like e.g. face recognition, smile shutter etc will be lost.
•Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality.
•Mediascape is being replaced by the media experience widgets and music player included in our new 2011 products.
•DRM keys for protected content on your phone will be lost in the upgrade process.
•The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost.
•Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the XperiaTM X10.

As a very proud owner of a silver arc and white X10 I have to say it is very close to call on which is the bes looking, but arc takes it. Before arc came into my life the X10 was perfect but arc really makes X10 look a little tubby and small even though their fontprint is of similar size.
It's like trading your 25 year old girlfriend (who's starting to look at slowing down and you need to use your head to keep her working well) for her hotter, younger just-turned-17 sister (who has more legs in her and who's only want is for you to be fast with your fingers and take photos.. in low light).

So does this mean the flash will be accessible in the camera main menu rather than having to delve into the sub menu??

@Bono
AFAIK the main menu would display the most frequent settings used, therefore may not have to dig into sub menus to find your most used functions ie. flash, etc

Well, that would improve things. Sounds like the x10 will be amazing after this GB update!! Will it also have the same menus as the Arc?? What I mean by that is when your in the main menu in the Arc you can still see your wallpaper behind the menu icons?? On the x10 it's just dark blue background.

I would guess the X10 update will look and feel almost exactly the same as arc's. The main reason X10 didn't get 2.3 before was because the old mediascape/timescape was a ballache and they were dropping them. Now they have defined the new mediascape/timescape alternatives the upgrade will be possible and there is no reason why they wouldn't keep the experience the same as the new phones, much in the same way competitors like HTC update older models to the newest version of sense with newest android where possible. It's plain to see SE are really trying hard to fix these kind of shortcomings that they've had in the past.

Search the xda forum, download and install the arc home for your x10

Hi, I posted this in the x10 picture thread, but maybe I can get a reply here faster:
I was wondering if any of you are using the stock camera mod from xda. It is already on version 10, so it should be stable, however, I'd like to know your impressions on it.
