why bother with edge? If maxis got edge, probably charge us 6 times more.

Congrats kucibubu on securing a job. :-) I don't think 3G will take off here soon enough because of charges, just like MMS. I sent quite a lot me MMS when it Was free, not anymore now. Too expensive. My bro who's in australia uses a 3G phone, but seldom use its services as its too expensive!

Exactly, all the latest technology in the world isn't going to help if they're too expensive to use. Pricing for MMS, International SMS, and GPRS is just out of this world. People keep going on about EDGE devices but it's all for show. No one's going to use EDGE with the prices we're having to contend with. I mean, even normal GPRS is expensive as hell. 3G? Don't make me laugh, no one is going to be able to afford that. Streaming video? Sure, we'd like that. But we ain't gonna pay for it. So I guess all we can do is encode DVD movies into 128 meg memory cards and watch em on our handheld devices.
And to be truly honest, I have no idea what I'm going to be using in the next couple of months. New hp ipaq 6300 series coming out, the XDAIII is coming out soon, the Mpx will be out soon, and a few other smartphones. It's mind boggling. Which one am I supposed to choose? Sony Ericsson? The p900 might have looked cool, but I don't see any future models able to contend with the other Pocket Pc platforms out there.
But does it really matter? With our telcos charging us for every little thing. We should just go back to using RM200 phones that just call and sms. RM8 for caller id, RM8 for itemized billing, they say they have no monthly charges for GPRS/WAP, but it's all hidden. Call charges are skyrocketting through the roof. I was actually suprised I was paying so much for SMS. With all the 5cents and 7cents being advertised all over the media. I was thinking 15 cents ain't too bad. But then, I asked and found out I was paying 20 cents for sms to other telcos and 10 cents for sms to maxis phones. I mean, what the hell is happening? Or is it just me?
International sms use to be 15 cents too, 50 cents isn't cool. Im going broke. Haha
