Might the Samsung Galaxy S III and Note II pass Android 4.2.2 by and jump right to 4.3?

While we will take this rumor with a grain of salt, it is worth mentioning because it actually makes sense. If this roadmap does turn out to be correct, we can thank the Google Play Edition of the Galaxy S4 for being in the mix.

Tips from Samsung R&D in India are indicating that Android 4.3 update preparations for the Galaxy S III, Note II and particularly the Galaxy S4 are making the 4.2.2 update redundant. Since the Google Play S4 will be the first to get Android 4.3, it stands to reason that concentrating efforts to do the same for the rest of the line would be worthwhile.

Is there a trade off? Perhaps. It might mean that Galaxy S III and Note II users will have to wait longer for any update at all. However, the update should be somewhat at the same time as when the Galaxy S4 gets the nod to receive the Android 4.3 as well. Of course, test builds of 4.2.2 for the Galaxy S III have already leaked, but we have also seen reports that the 4.2.2 update has been delayed due to TouchWhiz.

Assuming that this new TouchWhiz will also be in place with Android 4.3, there is even another bit of innuendo to add to the mix about having these devices leap-frog to 4.3. It is expected that the Galaxy S III, Note II and obviously both versions of the S4 will get Android 5.0. While that whole conversation is all speculation right now, it stands to reason to develop the update from a common denominator, that is 4.3, across the board for Samsung's most popular devices.

Will be great if this is true, the GS3 and Note2 will probably be the only 2012 customized Androids to be sitting on Android4.3, which will continue to show how much better at update support Samsung is.

I hope the GS2 and Note1 also get this, I actually had another OTA update this past week on the GS2, doubt there any other 2011flagships let alone 2012 ones being shown this sort of support.

I would appreciate an update any time now. Mine hasn't had an update in months. When I first joined the Android bandwagon, I expected to receive updates every few weeks, regardless how small.

Maybe you have not received updates more often because they are not needed. Stability and other issues might be ironed out.

My S3 has become possessed by some demon or something... It freezes whenever it feels like it and runs very slow... Anybody else got these issues...? I am due to get a S4 in a month or so but i am now having second thoughts.

Mine went like that after I installed the Simpsons: Tapped out game.

I ended up fully reformatting my entire phone just to fix it.

This being Samsung, no surprises about this news....
Deutsche Telekom's Samsung Galaxy S III jumps to Android 4.3, does not pass Go, or collect $200
The international version of the Samsung Galaxy S III sold by German carrier Deutsche Telekom, will be skipping Android 4.2.2 and proceeding straight to Android 4.3. This has been rumored for some time, but was confirmed on Wednesday by the mobile operator. The confirmation came in an exchange of messages on the official Telekom forum. The model number of the phone involved is GT-i9300, but there is a strong belief that Samsung will jump straight to Android 4.3 for Samsung Galaxy S III units in all markets.

Besides the Samsung Galaxy S III, there also has been talk that the Samsung GALAXY Note II would also jump over Android 4.2.2 to Android 4.3. Both models are currently powered by Android 4.1.2. Considering that Android 4.3 is available, it makes sense for Samsung to start pushing it out now to its top-shelf models.

The post from Deutsche Telekom didn't mention a date when we could expect the update to begin rolling out. Just recently Android 4.3 was made available for the Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 7 and Google Nexus 10. Last week, the new Android build was also sent out OTA to owners of the Google Play Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.
