Sony have nailed it with this phone - simple as that

I used to like taking photos with dedicated camera and did some experimenting over the years but stopped my enthusiasm and lost interest mainly because I couldn't be bothered carrying the kit around with me

This Sony puts a lot of it in my pocket and I will be using it more and more with rekindled interest, I love it

Sony the innovators again showing the way for the rest as usual, looking back over the years Sony is responsible for many firsts and the rest played catch up - they have done it again

I will be buying one of these without a doubt, just not sure when

One of my friends takes his SLR out and runs some shots off and they are great, I'm going to bait him with some of my own - I think when he asks me what I used to take the pictures he will be quite shocked when I tell him - my phone - his Hauwei (that he worships) cannot do lol

Now they need to understand costumers do not want a 7.7mm + 4000mAh.
They do not mind having 8.6mm (without cam) if they get 4500 or 5000 mAh.

I wonder what they plan for mark iii.
Larger sensor has slower readout than smaller.
Unless they put dram, it is very hard to keep 20fps AF with 1/1.5 or 1/1.2".

Isocell HM1 has only 30% of the speed compared to Exmor 557.

100% all three sensors will be Exmor
100% improved zoom quality because of the better sensor

Most likely all three sensors will have 20fps burst

I hope main sensor to be capable of 30fps

Hope they put back that DRAM technology coupled with a larger sensor. The 1ii still cannot match the 960 fps of previous xperias thanks to DRAM technology.

This 20fps bursts shooting is their compensation for their poor HDR.

Funny enough as I remember, they're the first to have HDR in a phone camera.
Now everyone's beating them in that front.

You can not compare one that uses HDR 100% of the time of another that does not.

Compare HDR on x HDR on.
And HDR off x HDR off ...

Why would they use only exmor again if they can charge same for the phone and use cheap isocell?
Imagine if with isocell they make $10 more per unit sold.
It can give them millions of dollars more.

I doubt it will change.
Someone here said last year mark ii would use only exmor.

** do not understand the purpose of offering 4K60 if not all three cameras are allowed to use it.

i don't enjoy these so called speed tests...

they are comfortable calling a winner with a split second difference, but they don't take into account the split second difference in them tapping the screen. we aren't robots. no human can synchronize taps exactly.

it would take a bit of set up, but a more accurate test would be to robotic setup that starts the clock when touch is detected.

I think this video shows the capability of the auto focus by Xperia 1ii. Maybe Xperia 1ii is the king of auto focus.

The first few minutes seems like both the G20 and 1mII have issues with autofocus. To me I've always tap:2:focus on the screen before moving about to rely on auto-focus and this video shows why many people do that. Still the adjustment over about 2mins shows Sony's algo's are adjusting very rapidly for best quality. The changes in direction show that even with today's technology it's hard to keep up during that drive.

Hawk much appreciated for sharing this.

I'm curious for you new Xperia 1mII owners ... what headsets, and home speakers do you own? Thanks.

Grrr. "The fastest" at what exactly before we need to click the link? Don't got time to find out.
Wasted time for another UI 'speed' test and a super rush through SpeedTest for network download/upload and latency test.

Is it not time someone makes a proper script to run so that micro delays from someone's fingers of 2 different hands don't affect the outcome? Unless you're ambidextrous chances are when you select 2 icons on two different phones, 1 will be selected slightly sooner than the other - our brains work that way with the dominant hand.

Micro differences for bragging rights is neither here or there. It's about the overall quality that the phone gives us that I'm sure Sony users are looking for.

Speaking of which ... how is the physical quality of the mII in terms of rigidity? Any back pocket carries worried about the Xperia bending with its sleek frame?
