@francois: Reminds of me of last year when we lived under constant blackouts because of some bolt in a nuclear reactor. Hope power gets restored by the morning.

BTW, anyone ever purchased anything on the Vodafone Live portal? I'm just interested because I went on there this evening and to be honest there wasn't anything appealing that would make me part with my hard-earned shekels.

Francois, we had an outage here not too long ago, made me realize how critical the power supply is to so many facets of our lives. There are quite a few gadgets in the marketplace which promise to provide emergency power to a phone in such an event. The one, a windup flashlight cum cellphone battery charger is actually quite good. Bought it at Midas for about R60, comes with Nokia, SE and Moto adaptors. Simply plug in and start winding coupla minutes worth of winding provides about 10min worth of charge.

The power is back on. That was about 8 hours without power. That hand charger sounds like a brilliant idea. Very much needed in situations where this happens.

The wind is pretending that it is PE tonight. Lot of trees are going to get it tonight. Sorta raining, but i recon most of the rain is being blown away:)

Anyway, i am going to bed. Long day tomorrow. Sleep well!

@da wanqsta: I suppose that Z710i offered by CPW is network-locked?

I'm having a manic morning...

@ da brixsta,
I don't know the answer to that one. Usually all CPW PAYG stock (apart from the '3' network stock and a few odd examples) is unbranded and unlocked, but the fact that they are currently only offering the deal with an O2 sim card has me wondering...
I'll find out from the local CPW during lunch time today (it's a short walk from work) and let you know.

@ 786kbr, no, i live in Pretoria north, way the other side of the city. Got family that side, but no clue if the power was out that side. I think it was out all over the place, sometimes big areas, sometimes all of it. I just know our 3block range was bad, since it was off all that time. Half of our block was on while half was off. Crazy i say.

I left my earphones in my pocket and my mom put my broek in the wash....

I haven't gotten hold of them yet to see how bad the damage is....

Once, years ago, i dumped my jeans into the laundry hamper, forgetting that i'd left a condom in the pocket. After my mom found the jeans neither the condom nor i were ever quite the same...
