man I do hope so (NON Touch Screen UIQ3 will be a direct competitor for S60 making Symbian more interesing).
But for it to succeed is a quality screen, very fast & power efficient cpu.(more on that later). Furthermore UIQ3 apps will need to be tweaked to take advantage of 1 handed navigation.
however, I feel that SE should be looking at power efficient cpu's more multi core designs that can take care of ARM6/9 calculations, along with memory card reading & writing tasks, along with normal functions of input/output. Most importantly the GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA should be also handled on the same die as the cpu. Economies of scale makes plain sense > especially for repairs.
Plus i'd like to see more 3D video cards implemented into newer devices NOT just the Cybershot Video Recording rumored phone or the Bravia phone. but in ALL top tier models maybe a choice of two video chips both supporting 3D but more powerful 3D for the ultimate top tier devices and a cheaper model for the mid tier more marketed top end devices.

apparently the 3d graphics chip was only implemented in one SE phone, the sweet W900i and i THINK the P990, correct me if i'm wrong.

yerp the w900 and p990 had nvidia goforce....
There is a newer version of that graphics chip though, and i am unsure if any mobile makes use of it now.

will use it in the near future.... hmmmm

The reason for the use of M2 is to cut down on the size of the memory stick slot so that space is used more efficiently. It was developed for mobiles. I doubt that SE would move 'backwards' and the only reason why the W850 used the old type was because it was in development for a while.
Just like why SD isn't used in Nokia phones, even large phones like the N93.

btw im new to SE iv been using nokia for 10 years (24.12 i turned 19)
and my first SE was The incredible w800 which i bought last year
and thats how my intrest in SE devices began the U.I is great :
easy, beautifly made graphic-wise ,the handsets are stylish and from high quality
the only thing SE needs to work on in my opinion is thair screens becuase sony is behind these mobiles and sony is well known from its screens (not to mention thair gaming platforms ps2,psp,ps3)and in my case sometimes my w800 puts me down when some backgrounds looks like thair lakeing some colore.
ow and one more thing i really hope that the gaming phone rumore will be confirmed and thanks to shaliron for the great thread.

I would love to have optical zoom in the next cybershot phone (even 2x) and 30fps VGA video recording.
A big bonus would be a faster processor and a graphics accelerator for some 3D games, maybe some extra buttons for landscape mode gaming since the joystick can't be used anyway.
