Gimicks aside, UIQ on the p1i has some very fundamental things right even if it isn't the smartest phone on the block. and the ability to easily type, or write long messages on a compact device (compared to other phones that can really do this) is quite an important feature.
I can see a cross compatible series of UIQ 3.3 phones as being a smart way to get the application writers and thus the punters back.
Don't forget, SE is trying to sell a series of phones to real people, not fan boys. You don't make money focusing on the fan boys.

Yes, but they do still use three years old hardware and their cameras are made worse for every new model that hit the stores. Add that they are not first on the market with the newest technology. Their so called smartphones don't even have hsdpa yet?!?!

I just love the fact that your basing SE's future on how good it's cameras are LOL. Yeah screw the phone itself, if the cameras crap SE will sink! The one thing people use the least is what your basing SE's future on.
Why don't you read what I wrote again, obviously you either didn't understand it or are confusing things.
Let's try again:
Symbian+UIQ+Touchscreen combo is good - it gave an advantage to SE over competitors, which SE very generously is wasting away.
I never mentioned anything about cameras, honestly don't care too much, as far as I'm concerned even a decent 2 MB one with AF will do. I was referring to the sound quality of SE walkman phones which are easily bettered by even the most basic Nokia phones.
As for owning a P990, in fact I have two of them. I still claim that except for the RAM, the P990 still beats anything SE has come up with since.
If a company can't come up with any new products in two years while the competition is on the fast track, well that sounds like a good reason to waste away.

But when that phone launched, may be next year (?), LG may have Viewty's successor with better video recording.
