Flash memory chips are the most expensive components on a phone, I'd agree if we're talking about a high end device like the Z, but for an entry level, Hmmmmmm

Minimum for this year, even for the low-ends, should be 8 GB with at least 6 GB user memory. High-ends should have 32 and 64 GB versions, and expandable up to 64 GB.

I was talking about high-end..

but still, in low end you need at least 8GB, or at least 6GB of user usable storage... specially with Android 4.1 as we can't move apps to the microSD...

It's a big problem if we have 4GB and less than 2GB or 3.7GB is available to the user...

Both Samsung and Apple are using faster NAND and Sony ones are slower also they have to do some thinking in the perspective...

and regarding the cheap quad Media-tek based devices... I wonder how dev. friendly these things will be.. I mean good like Qualcomm or bad like Tegra...

@RAMU I heard from Chinese bloggers regarding Togari's spec set to be:
Black & white only, Snapdragon 800, 6.44inch full HD IPS display, 8MP RS camera..

how much of it is true?~~

I rarely hear ROM developers praising these Chinese chips for platform friendliness, especially that some of their chips have piss poor(or nothing at all) product documentation, unless the chips are based exactly upon the design specifications as dictated by ARM itself.

and ugh nVidia does have excellent APIs in their disposal but their sense of propriety and secretive nature pisses off the open source community. qualcomm is winning developer support now and there's nothing nvidia can do about it unless they open their doors with warm welcome.

That's pretty much spot on. Though I guess camera would be 13mp.

Regarding the VAIO laptops

It looks good, but MS lost me as a user with vista, i do not feel the need to move to W8.

Osx does what i need.

However, i would definitely look into a high end vaio with ubuntu touch

I know this has few chances to happen, but who knows, let's see what happens when canonical releases it...
