@makbil, that's a much better post. Thanks.
IMO I don't think SE will loose out, not yet. I don't think they would even bother making the G700 if it wasn't for practically every Nokia having S60 on it, but you could turn it around onto Nokia, would they even bother making a touch screen phone if it wasn't for the iPhone? I still have my P990, I only got the P1i cause it's smaller and is also one of the reason why I'll get the G900.
But I agree that Simbian is the best platform, Win Mobile just looks like MS have squashed it's desktop OS into a phone, sure it works but not very well as a phone. But as Simbian was developed by Psion and Nokia and SE in the first place then it has by far the best heritage. But as mentioned above, the keyboard on the P1i is a love it or hate it affair, I hate it so the same device with a normal keypad is a boon.
As to the post asking shouldn't a camera be more then a gimmick? Well if you want a decent camera buy one, not even the best camera phone can compete with a compact camera. I really don't know of anyone who thinks a phone should also act a decent compact digital camera apart from the people on esato. It's just an added bonus.

We have Blackberrys and they do the exact same thing with the phone not ringing straight away even though on the callers end its rung like three times... We've had problems with most of them and thats probably 15-20... They dont work well as phones, hence I use a P1...
That's because non or you IT are trained professionals on the Blackberry platform. Simple solution to your problem is your profile settings:
*Profiles> Advanced - click.
*Edit the current profile that is Active.
*Scroll & select Phone.
*pay SPECIAL attention to "Out of Holster" & "In Holster" as either/both are most likely set to Vibrate & Tone!! This means it'll Vibrate as MANY times as the vibrate is set to below each heading under 'vibrate' (max 3 times) THEN it'll RING.
This function is great for those in a meetin that do NOT wish to disturb anyone in a meeting with a ringtone, but STILL wish to be notified of an important call - especially if its relevant to the meeting.
I also have YET to see a phone that'll give you menu's that properly reflect to the current status on the network - changes that affect menus' (ie Call Forwarding removed, Call Waiting, Call ID - you cannot block if its removed on your account on the network). Not even MS Mobile smarpthones do this automatically.
Not knowing a function is there doesn't mean the phone or the person operating it is incapable - you just need to find out, thats all.

"if you want a decent camera, buy one" - again and again and again ... this is getting boring. As I said before, IF you are happy whit half-ass products, that is OK, I am glad for you, really ... but please do not tell me that I should be happy with it, especially since the decision not to use quality sensors etc. is not due to technical challenges and difficulties. It just bad business practice that is working due to the support of people like you ! sorry for the rant, won't happen again ...

@theos
A 5mp camera is great, but try typing a long email with 12 keys and T9. It doesn't work, or it doesn't work for most people. A phone with a great camera and a pretty interface is nice. But if it can't handle phone calls then it's not much of a phone and if you can't send emails or browse the web easily then no-one will care how fast the connection is.
These are fundamental, the Nokia communicator lead the field in this respect for quite a while, they need something with the same impact. I think copying blackberry's half qwerty or small button approach wasn't stupid, even though I'd prefer a phone with no buttons at all, like the pre p990 phones which I always used with the flip removed.

@theos, it's not getting boring at all, your just ignoring the facts that a phone is NOT a camera. So stop wanting it to be one, it's the only feature you seem to want in a phone. So just how many phones can I by in the UK with optical zoom then? The N93, nice, shame it's also a brick and I can't buy it new anymore.
So as no manufacturer currently sells a phone with optical zoom to my knowledge in the UK then I will always buy a dedicated camera.
Until optical zoom is a common feature of a phones camera then it will always be nothing more then a gimmick to me. And how much is a Sony Cybershot compact digital camera with face recognition and touch screen with touch focus anyway? I bet it's not less then £150. So that leaves another £150 in the case of the G900 for everything else that isn't a camera.

It does look great there. There are some nice touch UI enhancements too. Like dragging your finger along the shortcut menu to view shorcuts, and then the same dragging motion used when viewing pictures. Its a pretty impressive little device.
