@dawny: daarsat are not serious. Upon the fact that dstv is so over inflated, they are currently offering a deal for the decoder for abt 24k and 3 months free access. And they actually have good packages as "low" as N2500. But like i said earlier its still to expensive. In the US, comcast was offering HDTV cable tv, broadband internet and a few other perks for abt $30! Meanwhile, cool cafe wants to charge a tenth of that for one hour of mediocre browsing! I go pack myself go yankee o!

Hi all, I'm so happy to see this thread beat the odds and remain alive.
@Brym: Good job

I use the MTN daily data plan whenever I need an emergency use of the internet. If I connect using GPRS, its very stable but slow, despite the availability of EDGE networks. 3G however is largely unusable as it keeps disconnecting. But from 4am it becomes stable and is quite fast.

Funny, but I remember so many people lambasting SE for their QW-ER-TY style keypads on the M600 and the P1, but on the new Nokia E55 its being praised. What did I miss?

Guys, remember also that the cost of running a telecoms operation in Nigeria is the highest worldwide, so if 35% of their budget is for power, levies and community relations how much do they have left for actual infrastructure to improve the network? The Mobile phone operators in Nigeria are currently working under the most horrible conditions anyone can think of. Do you know how many cell sites are vandalised across the nation daily? Do you realise how much they spend on importing generators and buying diesel? when diesel was being sold for N170per liter did the price of calls increase? Give them some kudos first, them ask for more later.
Just my own 2pence on the matter

@ambyzone did d telecom companies not carry out a feasibility study on d nigerian business system b4 dey came in?or re dey sayin dey didnt know we had power problem,security problem etc. And stil dey paid heavy licence fees.have we forgotten dat mtn said per second billlin was not possible til 2010,but wen glo came wit per second billin,it den became possible.dat goes 2 show how much dis companies want 2 reap off nigerians.but now glo is so comfortable in second position,leavin mtn 2 dictate wat happens in d telecom industry.ncc is a lame dog dat can only bark nd cant bite.i should change my signature from only nigerians can change nigeria 2 sometin more realistic.

Daddy oyoyoo!! Abu is back!!!
I hope no be the SPELL BINDING COLD PURSUE YOU COME BACK. No? It's goodly good to have you back.
Now, talking of Data, does any one have a reasonable explanation as to the OVERALL state of the MTN 3G?. Usually, I use the DAILY BUNDLE package on MTN But I notice that for LARGE STRETCHES of a day, most applications I have on my phone ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to connect either by 3G or GPRS. I browse quite alright though the speed is WONKY reaching from the LAUGHABLE to the TERRIBLY ABYSMAL! I cannot use my numerous CHAT PLATFORMS so what am I paying for a bundle when I can easily HACK into their LEAKY NETWORK and browse FREE OF CHARGE? I do not want to believe that it boils down to traffic problems occassioned by ILLEGAL BROWSING as GPRS was free once and the SPEED then was TOP NOTCH.And who says they cannot stop the LUDICROUS abuse of their platforms by hackers when GLO CAN? ?Speaking of glo, I can only give them big UPS for managing THEIR platforms WELL.Sites that MTN 3G cannot open, GLO 2.5G does with EASE so why the HYPE
Anyways, I feel so GOOD around the ROOM and say, WELCOME BACK ALL
@ AMBY: HOW U DEY BROS?

@ifedisky as long as mtn is reapin off its subscribers so hackers reapin dem off re in oda.its a vicious circle.d so called glo 2.5 g network is not as good as mtn dat is over populated wit free browsers.atleast mtn has not said dey re makin loss from d free browsin.i stil know alot of people dat pay monthly subscription 2 mtn.so mtn is not complainin,d hackers re happy their clients re happy so its a win win situation.

@amby: Thanks! Good to have you back, bro!
From the little I have read about the E55, the QWERTY keypad is actually similar to RIM's "Sure Type" found in some BlackBerry Pearl devices and not the rocker style of SE M600 or P1.
I find the E75 more appealing but for the 2.4" screen. What I realy need? Something Symbian with a 2.8" to 3.5" touch screen, a slide-out QWERTY, weighing under 120gm...
may come out in 2010( after I give the specs to Nokia)
