Ah, the plot thickens.
Yeah, let's hope they bother to dig deep enough to find out exactly what the set-up was.

BTW, to deter drivers who use their cellphones (while driving) further, the fine in the UK is to be doubled to £60 (approx R840) towards the end of February, but even more effective is that the offence can now cause 3 points to be taken off one's driver's licence, ie. a quarter of your points. It can take a few years to regain the points...

Thanks guys..was a good quiet day, other than working my ass off...the cake and tart and stuff was good, but my friends always complain that it is way too sweet.

Sorry for not commenting on the pictures...first have to log in, but i am on field now, so I log in via any one of about 100+ computers. At least there is aircon where I am sitting, and I mean AIRCON! It is HUGE, and it helps when there are not students in class. Yep, I am at Cornwall, our rich school again.

Talking about the book shortage, one of the teachers mentioned something about some parents holding down 3 jobs to keep their kids in this school. And that the result of the school system being what it is. I must say, this school is nice, a great place, lots of activities and school spirit and all that. Well, at 17-28k (about 17 for gr0 or 1, not sure which, and 28k for gr.12) One of the teachers approached me today to try to find out how she can get a chat room in Mxit used for teaching purposes for university students. These people take technology serious and in the way of how to apply it to education. Think the kids get their homework smsed to them, or if not, will soon. Will be interested in seeing how education and mobile technology integrate in the next few years.

Crap, have to now try to get this smart board working...cool toy;-)

wanqa, you should be posting those lovely pics in the picture section of esato. I see you haven't posted any pics there, it's a crime.

Oh yeah, talking about the phone/driving thing, Paul, my pal got the camera a day or two ago on the way to cornwall. He was on the phone. Should make a great picture, and a lovely fine. He has a bluetooth headset, but he just does not want to use it. Really stupid, if you ask me.

@ da brixsta,
LOL, I guess I should pull my finger out a bit and post some of the pics in that photo section.

As is obvious I guess, I do enjoy capturing pics that have either interesting compositions or focal points, or that pretty much tell a story in itself. As the old saying goes, a picture can be worth a thousand words.
I find the pics we post add an important visual dimension to such a thread, whether cellphone-related or about life here in general, rather than just another text-only based forum,
'Bumping' a major thread like ours, if/ when topics get a bit thin, with cellphone pics acts as a relevant (ie.phone-related) way to keep the ball rolling, and hopefully inspires some interest.

@ Francois,
It's the same here boet, I see the occasional Bluetooth-equiped driver, but there's still too many wallies out there with the latest cellphones who still don't bother with a Bluetooth headset, despite how relatively inexpensive they are...certainly a lot cheaper than a fine.
Yeah, I'm all for these new regulations.

Yup, seems to be one of those 'more going on in my left nostril' days around here.
Very busy at work at the moment.
Good to see the Proteas making in-roads on Day 1 at Newlands.
Will check in later when the work pressures aren't as demanding.

hi guys. im back from my honeymoon. mauritius was too class!! amazing and beautiful country. i missed reading this forum.

@ brix I dont think Vodacom is gonna bring their data rates down anytime soon. But i did hear it will come down hopefully by the end of the year. maybe then ill be able to save some money and get a permanent 3g/hsdpa modem instead of connecting using my phone the whole time. its a bit expensive.

Welcome back, wazarmoto!
Sounds like you chose the right place for your honeymoon. Dare I ask how many stunning, scenic postcard-type photos were taken? Wish I was in Mauritius right now...
