I personally have a different story on this Zain data package. I can connect easily and the speed is ok for a gprs connection. However, I discovered that the wap APN browses faster than the full internet APN.
It may however depend on my location. No EDGE or 3G here by the way.
@Abu: I think the MTN daily package is quite ok for those who use the internet intermittently and need instant access to the web from the comfort of their homes or offices. I sometimes use it. I have also used the all nite package, but staying awake to browse is not friendly with people who have to be at work the next day.

@Brym: I can't believe you think a phone that weighs just 140grm is heavy??? I remember not too long ago we were using motorola talkabouts and ericsson 2618 which were considered then to be quite hip and snazzy. Those phones used to weigh as much as a bag of rice. Now 140grm is too heavy.....

You got me laughing my head off there! Seriously, phone manufacturers have done well reducing the average weight and thickness of regular phones, but I think we deserve more "fit and trim" smartphones.

I still cannot browse with Zain, so I deleted all Zain settings on my device and requested for OTA settings via 232. It is close to 24 hours now, no reply from Zain...maybe the system engineer in charge has gone on leave.
Meanwhile, my MTN night time package only resurfaced yesterday after going underground for more than 48 hours. This about the third time it is disappearing like this in two months.
Where do we go from here? Where is NCC? Do they bother to monitor these telcos or they just wait for us to complain before they investigate?

Maybe people are still in a tizzy over the EUFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. I am , definitely and would, as they say, be back soon!
@Abu. I use the daily bundle and it's been a frustrating experience. Maybe it's a luck thing but every time I'm online the service's been yuck. It gets good sometimes but u might not be predisposed to use the sevice then. But hey, it's supposed to be up for 24hrs. On that score, they FAIL.

Talking of NCC, that body recently made Glo pay me some outstanding promo incentives.
Story goes...
I entered a promo called "Postpaid Savings Plus Plan" which promised to pay interested postpaid subscribers N4,000 every six months if they spend a minimum of N4,000 monthly on Glo services. It ran for two years(Feb. 2006 to Feb 2008).
For the first rebate which I got in October 2006, I wrote 3 reminders and 2 visits to Glo office before I got paid. For the second rebate, I wrote 5 reminders and more visits to Glo office before I got paid in March 2007. For the 3rd and 4th rebate I lost count of the reminders I wrote and visits . Glo just ignored me. So I wrote a letter to their Director, Customer Care who replied and apologised for the delays and assured me that my case will be addressed soonest. Five months after her letter, no correspondence from GLO on this issue.
I wrote a warning letter threating to take the issue to NCC. Again, they ignored me.
I made good my threat and took the issue to NCC. NCC gave them a month to resolve the issue. Within a week they replied compaining that I was trying to escalate the issue and that they had made several attempts to contact me...big lie!
Eventually this January, the 3rd incentive was paid but they informed the NCC chap handling the issue that I didn't qualify for the 4th(last) incentive. After crosschecking with me, The NCC chap asked them to go through my bills for the period again to confirm.
Two weeks ago, February 13th, the last of the incentives was paid. It was paid A YEAR AFTER the promo ended.
So watch out for Glo Promos...you have to REALLY remind and possibly report them to higher authorities before they pay! Typical IJEBU BUSINESS MODEL!
On a lighter note, I give three GBOSA to NCC. As for Glo, I still have to report them to WAZOBIA FM for Yaw and MC OPJ to flog them, throw hot water on them and break their heads with bottle.

That is new and refreshing news. Just make sure you get a testimonial from somebody who has used it for two years before you commit.
