Guys I need some help and since no one was responding on the general board, I thought I'd put it up here and hope my fellow Malaysians would help. Thanks

" Guys I'm in need of help. Recently I reformatted my internal mem after doing a backup. The "find melody" function works fine b4 I restore the backup. But when I've restored the backup, I somehow am unable to change my ring tone in the contacts. When I choose "find melody" I get error msg "Program Contacts...Reason code KERN-EXEC....Reason number 3". Worse when I try to change the ring tone from the "phone preferance" under "sounds and alert", the phone restarts all over again!

Does that mean my ringtone file in the backup is corrupted? If so is there anyway I can get all the other info from the backup without the ring tone bit. I cant neglect the backup all together coz I have so many other stuff that I need to restore to my phone. Pls help...thanks in advance"

Hmm... I think there's something wrong with the KERN. Happened to my now ex-P800. What you'll have to do is to bring it to EricServe and ask them to reflash the firmware. That should solve the problem.

Anyone knows how do I reflash the firmware as suggested by Waja?

I've explained the problem to Ericserve and this bloke called Jefferey said that my file is corrupted and there is nothing he can do it about it. He suggested that I do a master reset. I can do that but then I will loose all my info in the backup.

Another option could be to restore only the non corrupted files from my backup, is there a way I can choose which files to restore from my backup, so I can get everything except the corrupted files? Pls help, thanks

As with my ex-P800, a Master Reset didn't solve the problem. Only solved by reflashing the firmware, which means losing everything. But well, its better to have a working unit than to lose your data. I guess you have to manually install the apps again.

w'sup!

@acquiesce,
is yr headset working in the first place, even after its fully charged? sometimes the problem might not be the phone alone. tho it may seem to function like normal, the headset tends to get "locked up" when transmitting audio and the call button just freezes i.e. can't turn on/off, can't voice dial etc. happened to me sometime ago. u oughta tell what headset u r using. if its one of SE's, then u might wanna bring it to ericserve and let the pro's do the checking. hey, if it has passed its shelf life, just get another one! the new akono with interchangeable covers is a pretty nifty headset, or so i hear.

cheers!

Ermm.... I tend to prefer the HBH-660, the one with caller ID. Tend to rely on caller ID since I've started using the HBH-200...

HBH-660

the design, without question, is excelente (cool factor). but practicality? pls study the pics above and tell me how would one suppose to check on that little display peculiarly affixed to the headset for incoming calls. do we need a mirror? or perhaps a periscope somesort?
