Downloading an unbranded UK FW and flashing it with Odin is one way to get the update

I shall not be held responsible if the flashing process doesn't go well though! Apparently the UK FW will need a hard reset after updating or it may run buggy.
My GS3 came with Voda branding I remember, so did my GS2, within a week or two of owning either I flashed them to well supported regions. My GS3 was sitting on a Luxembourg 4.1.2 FW when I broke it if I remember correctly, my GS2 is on the Nordic 4.1.2 FW and my GS4 is on Indian 4.3 FW, I've jumped around on the S4, from local FW to Kenyan FW, Middle Eastern, Bangladesh and now Indian depending on who gets an update 1st

never had issues.

As soon as the first region get the latest firmware for my Sammie phone on Sammobile I flash it.No waiting for me.I then root it and remove whatever branding needs to be removed.

Yep, the US GS3 as well as the International LTE GS3 I9305 are getting KitKat, the only one that may not get it is the i9300.
