Hey guys, feels good to be back in action after long...

Does anybody know if SE is participating in ComminicAsia 2008 in Singapore? It's taking place from June 17-20. They participated last year.

Probably June 16/17 could be possible dates for an announcement...

I really don't know who is right. It's not that I don't believe doministry or gliatiotis from mobile-review, but I have a feeling that they are speaking about 2 different devices (p2 and p5 maybe??)

The phone that i have in my hands will be shipped the way it is , since as i've already said they only fall into my hands when they are one step before production .
I can not discuss the possibility of some other phone completely different in design , positioning and specs , but that is a whole othe matter .

And belive me , no company goes so far to create a complete phone with certain specs and then change it with another one , since placing all the parts together in the right position removing all the minor deffects the original design may have and optimizing everything to work , even the way everything is placed inside the phone is not an easy , and "cheap" procedure .

I understand that for most UIQ users , the idea of not seeing an updated platform is something they don't want to accept and are trying to find even the most impossible explaination , but no manufacturer is able to do something like that from a time and cost point of view , and SE is in no case something different from a mid range manufacturer that also has other bigger and more important problems to solve than the evolution of the UIQ series .

I quit...you operate with so many false assumptions that I just don't know what to answer ... ( wher did I EVER expressed the desire for optical zoom ?! ... + yes, I have decent camera already ... )

With regards to the optical zoom I was expressing my own opinions. I can understand your frustration that you want an SE phone with a fantastic proper camera and UIQ but I thin you'll have to accept that we won't get that, yet. I'm sure it won't be log before there is a Cybershot using UIQ, with any luck it'll have optical zoom. But I reckon it'll be end of the year or next year before we see anything like it. But it won't be an all in one top end smartphone like what Nokia make as that's not SE's market.

Regarding the 2 seperate phones in that video, is it not correct to assume one will be business orientated and one Walkman orientated, I mean that's what the P1i and W960 are right? Same platform but with different main functions. I hope SE have some crackers to announce soon as next month sees the arrival of the 3G iPhone!!

@bider
I get your point.
There's no great reason to trust me.
And I don't play any star here .
However, two reasonable things (since I'm not able to make any proof here)
1. You really believe that SE releases it's flagship on an very old platform and expects any good effects of that? C'mon... That's really funny.
2. Swiss Manager Pro indication in this particular case can be completely unreal. It's a great app, but I remember SMan showing for over a year 16million colours on my P990. Than is was corrected to a proper 262K. So, it's the only indication of this processor we have.
I think that this 208mHz leak is complete bullsh..t.

...which raises the question; does anybody here in this forum have any clue as to when (in "end of May/beginning of July") this announcement is going to take place? ("Exact" dates...)

Any calls for press conferences or the likes from that people know about?

Hi doministry,

Well of course what you say is right and that's why i asked the question, believe me i don't won't to believe it's true and really i doubt anyone else does either.

I haven't owned an SE/UIQ for nearly two years now and after this long i really hoped with UIQ3.3 we would see SE/UIQ really come up with something to lead once more.

I hoped it would be a device we would aspire to and want to own and to be honest a 2.6" screen in 2008 and portrait only keyboard really isn't that exciting. Now if it also arrives with the so far only leaked info of only being a little faster then the P1 and G series that doesn't suggest a 520mhz processor and no HSDPA yet again is nothing short of unbelievable.

That is why i asked if it was possible he had an early and not final proto as a explanation you have read his answer.
So until SE announce it and it's spec's what else can we think? of course we can still and will hope for more.

Marc

Not the annoucement you are looking for, but here is some information on the 906i series:

Annoucement Date: May 26th
P906i Release Date: June 1st
SO906i Release Date: June 2nd
SH906i Release Date: June 3rd
N906i Release Date: June 4th
F906i Release Date: June 5th

There is speculation about the release dates but the annoucement date is basically confirmed, or so we hope.
