Ubuntu touch will use the existing Android drivers and kernel

and from what I've heard from Mark Shuttleworth on his video interviews at Youtube, Ubuntu Touch could possibly arrive on Q4 2013, but devices might arrive next year
Back to the incoming sony phones, the os topic got a bit burried under samsung new marvel.
Anyone knows anything about a sony firephone?
@Razec & Ricky D, so ubuntu touch would be built upon pieces of android?
I am not sure to understand, but i thought that ubuntu touch would be pure linux, with the touch interface being built by canonical. On the other hand, i read android uses Java which has to make it less performant than other OSes.
I'll turn the problem differently. If Sony wanted to build phones with an OS optimised for the phone, like ios on iphones, could they do it with android (i read a university project re-wrote android in c/c++), with ubuntu touch, with vita os, all of them or none of them?

3 new questions about Honami to Randomuser:
1) Both? That mean that oleophobic layer too?
2) I have heard about using some advanced sound chip. Do you know anything more about it?
3) Do you know something more about this innovative technology of the battery? And what will be the exact capacity?
In the case of this phone evolution becomes revolution.

@shotokan81
This is the dream. In reality the Ubuntu ROM wouldn't be provided by Sony and would require some devs over at xda, root and probably an unblocked boootloader, it is possible and I'm trying to get it running on my Tablet Z with a bluetooth keyboard/trackpad as we speak.

as quoted by Canonical's Ubuntu website
With all-native core apps and no Java overhead, Ubuntu runs well on entry-level smartphones – yet it uses the same drivers as Android. So now it’s easy to bring a better experience to customers all over the world.

Which Lumia? 900, 800?
And just for your information, Xperia Sola was launched during early Q2 2012.

Thanks guys this looks great indeed, no virtualisation, no java, run in paralel, launch android apps within ubuntu!
But i need the maker to ship the phone with ubuntu or dual boot directly.
Don't want to brick my honami, for instance, by playing around and install OSes.
Also someone mentioned vita os in the past.
This could be fully optimised to run on sony/xperia devices?
Forgetting the app ecosystem considerations, optimised os means less heat so in principle better quality pictures no?
About the sony firephone, the below link says sony may be working on a high end one:
http://www.digitaltrends.com/[....]o-make-high-end-firefox-phone/
Ramu, as you seem tied and can't provide more info on honami now, what about firefox phone?
Do you know if this is in sony roadmap? For 2013, or for 2014 maybe?
