Hi all,

Never mind having a hard time selling high end handsets just what high end handsets does SE have in Europe then?

Now if you an SE think the P1 and W960 are high end handsets no wonder there in so much trouble the only high end thing about them was the price that then drops like a stone. No wonder they can't make any money out of them.

SE appears to have lost ground every where in the ranges to rivals even the Cybershot range that they led in has slipped just look at the K850 and all it's problems and pulled advertising for it.

SE really need to gain back there reputation for producing leading edge quality handsets or they are destined to slip further in the tough times ahead for the whole market.

Just thinking SE is always the best really doesn't count and there fan base is no where big enough to carry them either IMO.

Marc

1 pretty many, yes

2 most people do actually care.

Most phones on the market don't have 3.5mm jacks and people still buy them, which I think is your answer.  My HSB-220 does and works beautifully without wrapping me in 2m of cord.SE, Mitsubishi and others pulled out of DoCoMo development in March because of its onerous requirements to focus on other markets.  this really isn't  news.

I have to agree with NightBlade, the vast majority, ok all, of the people I know don't care about a 3.5mm jack. I would venture that most people who care that much about the quality of their music get a dedicated MP3 player. If you are making the compromise of listening to your music from your phone then you probably aren't going to be using the highest quality headphones. If you are the type of person who has to use the highest quality headphones while listening to your music on your phone then I don't see how using an adaptor affects the quality of your life or listening experience.

I know that was a longer reply than necessary to make my overall point that there are a lot more important features on a phone than the size of its audio jack plug. I'd list them all here, but I don't think that would be necessary.

1) No, not when you consider that Esato - and all these sites that make a big deal out of something so small as a connector - is not even 1% of SE's market.
2) Most people don't even realise that their phone could have had a Micro USB or a 3.5mm jack, or even know what those are!

Im sure given the choice most would like to use their own headphones so yes of course people would prefer a 3.5mm jack. Its still backward thinking like that what has put SE in the corner which they are stuck in. Keep saying these things over to yourself. Will you still say them when SE turns into another Moto? lol

Hi all

Actually NightBlade is 100% correct no blind and loyal SE fan boy cares about a 3.5m jack and won't until SE have it and then all of a sudden it will be just brilliant and of course SE thought of it first and does it best.

Same goes for micro SDHC that has great storage and at a reasonable price and can be moved between many devices and computers. But then of course SE has already started to embrace this with the K850 having both it and M2 capabilities. Not forgetting that this will also be in the X1 but then it's not unique to Sony and SE so must of course be inferior, just what were we thinking.
