When will the design of Honami be final and stop changing?

How long is a piece of string?

Twice the length from the middle to one end.

What if the string makes a U-shape? What length were you talking about? Actually of the string?

The design will stop changing when they've made their final decision on it. Either that or Ambivalent was hinting that it's a transformer... (Now let's see you add that to your spreadsheet lol).

@jianlin

There was no point deleting that comment, because the new message still isn't Sony related, lol.

Anyway, on topic, Sony love supporting developers, what could they do to help developers dual-boot Ubuntu?

Dual-booting would have to be built into one of the OSs I guess and I don't see that happening, especially considering how limited space we still have on these devices. Btw has any of you tried Ubuntu for PCs before? There are many issues with Ubuntu that don't make it user friendly beyond doing very very basic things imo...

When does Sony expect on finalizing the design? If it is to launch this summer in China there isn't much time left...

Thanks for picking up the os conversation.

I am not a dev, but if Sony looks at this thread, i would summarise the alternate os popularity so far as below:
- ubuntu: 3
- jolla: 1
- windows phone: 1
- firefox: 0
- vita os: 0

And i think Sony could make a great os by branding an own ubuntu touch flavor, which is something canonical seems to support according to marc shuttleworth video posted few pages earlier.

Off topic, Sony, please also consider forking/flavoring ubuntu and sell PCs with it along windows 8 pcs.
MS seems to have less grip on pc makers nowadays.
We would call them Ubuntosh!
Gimp, libreoffice, enough great software is available, it helped me migrate to osx
So no need to include a dual boot to windows, sell them side by side for a cheaper price.

Ubuntu lacks in many ways as an OS. For one there aren't many applications and the ones that do exist can't be compared to Windows counter parts. There is no app to replace Photoshop, Maya 3D etc. LibreOffice can compare to MS Office. Hardware support is not very good at all. And if this wasn't enough there is no standard installer for apps. If you can find everything you want in Ubuntu Software Center that's okay, but not everything is there. Task management is also horrible.

I believe most of these issue will be present in their mobile OS too. A good experience on it would be limited to very basic stuff.
Another issue is that, developers support what's most popular because that's where the money is at, and to make something money is needed. If the OS is used for low end devices that aren't really popular the OS won't get much support. There is nothing Sony by them selves can do. Android only became popular because a lot of companies supported it very well and Google did a very good job on constantly improving it.

I get all of that. But with mobile phones with the power they have even today maybe can power some basic stuff, like libreoffice. All you'd need is a screen and a few other peripherals. With a tablet with the OS, all you'd need is a mouse and keyboard.

Windows phone might support that in 5 years, and who knows, chrome and android may unify in that length of time too, but with Ubuntu, maybe that could be mainstream in 1-2 years if someone put the effort in.

I believe the Z Google edition rumours were started by you know who on you know what forums, not this one, and a certain site has a habit of following him so all other sites got it from there. Only someone crazy would go for it over the normal Z because unlike other phones, it has too many useful touches to lose, but as has been mentioned a few pages ago, it's an easy way to break into the US market.

And a lot of people would love to see vita os, but that's another story, lol.

The Honami could be either announced or teased there.
