@Whizzkid

Is it any wonder these things have happened in the name of Islam? After all, the events that have taken place in India are in accordance with the Quran.

sura 9:5 "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay those who join other gods with Allah wherever you find them; besiege them, seize them, lay in wait for them with every kind of ambush..." Of like nature is sura 47:4 which says, "When you encounter the unbelievers, strike off their heads, until ye have made a great slaughter among them..."
(Taken from the link I posted earlier)

Doesn't sound like a religion of peace to me...

"Muhammad himself is known to have conducted 27 battles and planned 39 others" - or a prophet of peace either!

@peterkay
If I drunk poison right now- then unless some miracle took place, yes I would die. The bible does not say that believers are invincible. It says all things are possible by faith, but considering I lack a lot of faith, I would die if I took poison.
Jesus was talking about those that were to follow him. He was talking about Peter and Paul and the disciples that were going to preach to gospel. They preformed miracles just as He said they would.

Also, the Devil once asked Jesus to fall from the top of a high building- saying that God would not allow his son to be harmed- and Jesus told the devil "Thou shalt not tempt God". So a Christian would never put himself in harms way just to show that God will help him out.

PeterKay, quoting your book is fine but as pleber says not overly helpful.

You seem to be dominating this topic, by adding things in bold and ignoring all we have to say. You are not acknowledging our christian views and are constantly quoting things. How are we supposed to chat about each others religions? Im interested in Muslim but you seem to be using this thread as a means to prove its right. Im not trying to prove that Christianity is true, but just trying to let you understand what its about and why it shouldnt be disregarded, much like you are doing but you are dominating and seeing your religion as the only true one by being rude about everything i post and not acknowledge it. From now on, lets not just make this a Islam versus everything else thread ok? Its kinda annoying.

The religion of Islam is one that promotes peace and betters one's self.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every religion, afaik does that. This is not "exclusive" to islam. No religion i have come across promotes violence and gore.

I didn't say it was, I was making a general point because people tend to perceive it as an evil religion.

Some people misinterpret Islam and use it for their own deeds.

This applies to other religions too..but why has this been much much more prominent in islam than any other faith?

Yeah but with Islam, people thing that those who twist the religion represent everyone.

regarding thanking people who spread Islam.
Yes we are supposed to attempt to enlighten people to join Islam, but not by force.
In a Muslim family for example, we are given the choice to select which path we take at a given age. This shows freedom.

If someone kills a person and tells the family, join Islam or this will happen again. then it's wrong.

@vanquish, quoting the books is better than spreading opinions as fact.
Note: he's not only quoting to reply to pleber or you by the way, he's been quoting before you started to ask questions.
He's not trying to convert, just trying to show people the nice side and to provide people with knowledge.

Since you and pleber have joined the thread. You've constantly compared the Christianity with Islam. Wtf?
We didn't do that.

Well said Amnesia, Vanquish go back to school.

Islam is the only religion in sight of God Almighty whether you like it or not and when you die it will be too late to realise and then do not say you weren't warned by a Muslim regarding the truth.

Life is too short people, you could die today or tomorrow and all i want for all you to accept the truth for your own benefit.

Why are there 2 different stories regarding Judas's death in the Bible?

(Mat 27:3-10 NIV) When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. {4} "I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility." {5} So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. {6} The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." {7} So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. {8} That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. {9} Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, {10} and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."

(Acts 1:18-19 NIV) (With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. {19} Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

Please explain this Pleber or Vanquish.

That sounds bit wierd to me.
We know there were people living much before islam was "born". So all those people didn't follow islam are in hell or are waiting for judgement?

And when you say "its the only religion in sight of god", its your belief, a personal thing. Its not something to be "imposed" or thrust upon someone!
It also make sound as if god is "exclusive" to muslims only!

Why should a person not following islam believe it is the only religion in sight of god?

Why should we believe the quran is the final revelation?

What if someone doesen't believe in revelations at all?

But muslims (even moderates) i think, have a superiority complex about islam.

(I have not come across a hindu or a buddhist proclaiming his religions superiority over any faiths. Have seen christian fanatics, but moderate christians are ok, but even a moderate muslim is highly confident of his faiths superiority over others!)
Why so?

Islam has been the only religion since day ONE, so all the people before the final messenger will have a place in heaven. Islam is the ONLY true religion and willbe till the day of judgement. You do not need to believe me but when your eyes close and the eyes of your soul opens then you will regret this discussion.

The fastest growing religion, ask yourself WHY.
